Yes, yes, yes I'm sure that this thread has been done many, many times before but I'm making another one :p

Show us your ex racers and tell us about them, any pics you like! I've developed such a big love for an ER gone right. This is Chilli (Franceschiella). Not too sure on her racing career but don't think she was much good! Since coming out of racing she's been an awesome allrounder for her owner and with me she's having a crack at pure dressage. We're aiming for our first two Elem tests at the start of May.

When I first got her she had been on several months holiday in the field, chilling out. She looked like this:

This is her now:

Also just realised that today is a year to the day since I viewed her :)

She's looks lovely and very dinky!! I have one too - got him last June and I love him to bits but he's not done much over the winter so we are still at the beginning of our schooling!

Oh she is stunning! How big she is?

Lovely thread OP, looking forward to seeing more :)

My first ex-racer is arriving today - eek! :p

Beautiful horse & photos!

Mine are a bit boring .... but here's my boy Chance, bred by a French syndicate & raced as a youngster, now in his twenties & loving his job as Chief Cuddle Monster & Toggle Puller.

Prima ( Prima Markova) by Mark of Esteem out of a Jalmood mare - Ball Gown. She raced as a 3/4 year old but clearly thought it was not for her... She played up to high goal polo and is now a broodmare, and an absolute sweetheart! My dream is to breed a handy sprinter from her ( I can dream!)

Haha-she is tiny. 16hh absolute max when she's just been shod :P Good luck with your lad :)
she is gorgeous, what a pretty head!
Thank you! I may be biased but I agree ;)

She can't be any bigger than 16hh. That's what she's passported at but I feel it's generous. Although perhaps it's because she's shrunk as an old lady :) Good luck with your new horse!
What a pretty girl!
Thank you!!

What a pretty girl!

Dangerous Brian (Taraakum)

Lloyd (Zerdiyan)

Big Sam (Society Sam)

Tiger (Dubai Tiger)

Especially liking that big bay. Utterly scrumptious. All of these horses look like they're thriving in their new careers :)

My goodness she is beautiful. And look at that lovely foal too-I am jealous. I know Chilli has had a foal and I wish I had pics of her with her baby!

This is my girl had her since January she has been off track for 2 years- she is still running up a bit light really I think. Welcome opinions on what people think of her weight wise?! Have got used to my warmbloods so struggling to know if she should have more coverage over her ribs?

But she is a sweetie and works lovely looking forward to an exciting summer of fun times!! She is only 15.2 and has reminded me how fast little ones can turn themselves inside out on the odd occasion but generally she is just like an over grown dog!!

She's lovely! Personally I like Chilli to run with a little extra weight than many would. Not fat by any means but she gets fed enough to keep enough weight to turn into muscle if you get what I mean. Of course it depends on the job you want her to do, but if you're looking to get more muscle on then the first thing I'd suggest is getting a bit of weight on. I feed Bailey's No4 and add sunflower oil. Other things to take into consideration before deciding on feed are her age and workload. For Chilli personally, I don't like being able to see her ribs very visibly. She is naturally quite a bony horse-almost 16yo TB after all but I do like to keep a good amount of coverage on her.

Hope any of that made a slight bit of sense!

Thanks Rosiesowner- she was on number 4 but sent her loopy!
the plan is dressage and maybe the odd showing show, with a couple hunter trials at end of the season as only had her 6weeks so not rushing us!! I think she would benefit from a little more weight really!
I have started her on linseed and she is on slobbermash also which both seem to be keeping her chilled out but hoping the linseed will add the condition!! She is only 6 so still young but works 5/6 days a week mixture of hacking, schooling, jumping and fast work!

Oh what a lovely post :-)

I haven't been on here for ages as have been without a horse, but I bought my ex-racer Chessie (Premier Grand) last July. He is 17yo and had been out of work for a couple of years. Its taken time to build him back up again but he is starting to get there. I'm doing a bit of endurance with him so we've done a couple of 32km rides and have a 40km one planned for the end of the month. It's so nice to see all these ex racers going so well!

Gosh what a gorgeous girl, had a quick look up her racing record for you if you want a look! https://www.racingpost.com/profile/horse/607101/franceschiella

He's arrived! And what a star he is so far - such a lovely chilled chap! :D

I was just wondering how you'd gotten on, was hoping for an update!

He's gorgeous, what a lovely kind eye he has. Can't wait to hear how it all goes!

Also loving all these pics - they're all so gorgeous. I've just bought my first TB (bred to race, but never did), and he surprises me every day with how intelligent, cheeky and gorgeous he is.

This is my big Gray lad. He finished racing 6/7 years ago due to a major tendon injury so I took him home. He's only a mere 17hh lol! Fully American born and bred, loves attention, loves cameras and loves to be seen! Gray is just a show pony, his dodgy leg wouldnt cope with anything more than that.

Simply beautiful. Grey horses just have such a presence.

This is my inky dinky boy Red Cell :D 15.1 in his shoes and a tinker personality to match his height! I've been owned by him for 6.5 years, we've had some extended time out due to injury and have been attempting dressage for the last couple of years, just starting out at Novice, attempting FSM and hoping to qualif again for the BD ROR champs, also hunt in the winter and occasionally hurtle ourselves over XC fences in the summer (SJ can be a dirty word so only do the odd small ODE).
Love him to bits and wouldn't swap him for anything despite the traumas and tantrums, his Sire is Khelyef (Grand Sire Green Desert), Dam is Montana Lady and he's now 11 and still doesn't know better sometimes :) Former flat racer retired sound at 4 (have managed to track down grooms/owners at every stage of his career and also found his full sister who sounds very alike!!!) He seems to have his own fan club at the yard and beyond and can extract treats from people who don't think they have them....
