Excuse such a rookie post - Difference between CCI and CIC?

CCIs are 3 days CICs are international one days so basically normal events but run under FEI rules and often count as qualifictaions towards CCIs

1* is novice level but generally with more technical and longer xc tracks and the dressage test is harder

Thank you

that clears up my confusion!

CCI is always over 3 or 4 days, CIC is over 1 or at most 2 days. CIC can be dr, sj, xc, or dr, xc, sj, whereas CCI is always dr, xc, sj. not always 2 trot-ups at CIC either, iirc.
CIC is a glorified one-day event, basically, i think.

Gatcombe CIC ran over 3 days

They had a trot-up before dressage. The CIC I did at lulworth a few years ago had a trot up before dressage and a formal trot-up the day after xc, before sj

I know 1* is novice but Chepstow 1* ran over the Int course...

also.. a CIC** will help towards qualifying you for a CCI**, and a CIC*** will help towards CCI*** and CCI**** qualification...

BUT a CIC* will not qualify you for a CCI*.. you need either an Int. or a novice 2day for that..
