Just had to show you all the wonderful ad that Blackhawk (aka Snowhawk) designed for my stallion Tobago!

This ad is going in several big Arab horse magazines.

Isn't she a genius?

Blackhawk now has her own design company - and if any of you need any design work I would highly recommend her!

Hope it's OK to post this - Blackhawk is far too modest to blow her own trumpet, but she is so talented and really deserves to do well!

This is free advertising on the forum. This is should not be allowed. Other people have to pay for adverts.

Advertising what? When people get a painting or drawing from another HHO member they post it. I don't see why this is any different.

Oh come on - a little bit of praise for one of our talented HHO members isn't going to hurt anyone!
smile.gif

Blackhawk didn't ask me to post this - as I said, she would never blow her own trumpet - she will probably be surprised and embarrassed when she sees it, but I just felt she deserved a bit of recognition!

I did ask in my post if it was OK to post this, so if the moderators object I'm sure they will be in touch with me.

Whoops! Our posts must have crossed in cyberspace!

Sorry Blackhawk - I really didn't mean to get into trouble!

But as you say, people always post when another member does a drawing or painting or design for them - and lots of people 'advertise' their horse-related businesses in their sigs, giving website links etc. I really don't see that this is any different, especially as you didn't ask me to post it!

Give it a rest!

Well done Blackhawk!

Thats brilliant! I've started working on a stud that breeds and produces arabs and part bred arabs for eventing and I must say they are a fantastic breed. I would never have been a big fan before but can see they really have something special about them. Your boy is gorgeous htobago, I love seeing pics of him, he looks like a lovely character aswell

Hardly.

HTobago is showing us something that's all. She is not pushing her stallions services or BlackHawks, merely saying that BH has her own Design company now and how pleased she is with the results. Ordinary newsy chitchat on a par with "I have a *** saddle from ****, it's brilliant, highly recommended" or is that advertising too?

Most effective by the way BH.

Thank you Enfys!

Oh dear - it didn't even occur to me that anyone would think I was 'pushing' my stallion by posting this! I must be very naive, but I just wanted to thank Blackhawk and show people what great work she does.

For heaven's sake, we all post pics of our horses all the time, and nice artwork that other members have done for us - and lots of people post links to their stud websites, shops, services, etc. Not to mention all the posts praising named saddle companies, feed companies, riding gear, livery yards or other suppliers/services.

H&H seem very tolerant of all this friendly exchange of information - and I'm sure they understand that this is one of the reasons why their forum is so popular.

htobago, I fail to see how you can possibly think yourself as naive when you write books on human psycology.
You have promoted your stallion considerably on other forums quite openly this past year as as I see it, IMO are using this forum to do the same.

How rude

I would reply to that but I don't think it's worth the bother. If admin had issue with this post then they would have removed it. Especially since you seem to have already reported it to them.

Its amazing!

I take it you are a professional photoshopper( sorry don't know the word)

Thanks, and no I'm not at all! It's just something I do on the side every now and then.

I am gradually getting into doing design work for people for advertisements and personal pictures. I've had a few people on HHO ask me to do pictures for them which is great because I really enjoy it. I've started up a personal web page to show the pieces, though it's not really up and running atm.

.........and nobody else talks about their horses? Stallion or otherwise, lots of us have them. I don't remember seeing a price in any of the posts about Htobago (ooops sorry, advertising) that I have read. If someone chooses, of their own free will, to follow up on anything here that is their business, that is what PM's are for.

Hi Kate
smile.gif

So, we can't ask about pricing a horse, the wording of an advert, talk about a stallion or his offspring, mention that you are selling a horse/saddle/house etc or show photos of a litter of pups, say how much you charge for livery at your place, whatever, for fear of it being advertising? How dull.

QR
htobago and Snowhawk.... the advert is really, really good! It's usually so hard to do a horse justice on a piece of paper, but I think SH has managed it just perfectly
smile.gif

Ignore those with a chip on their shoulder, though I'm sure you will!
tongue.gif

Perhaps it is because nuffield posts so many adverts for the saving/selling of horses............ I seem to remember lots of posts from nuffield about 'saving' horses, and being directed to for sale sites/adverts///advertising???

Glass houses and all that!!

Nice bit of art work by the way Blackhawk
grin.gif

Actually I'm a social anthropologist - well known as the lowest form of scientific life...and you'd be amazed at how naive I can be when I'm off duty!
wink.gif

Seriously, though, I do not come on here (or the other forum I occasionally visit) to promote my stallion. He is my only horse, so I talk about him, same as we all talk about our horses - happy about his achievements, sometimes worried about his little quirks and foibles, just like any other besotted one-horse owner.
smile.gif

It would be rather a shame if I weren't allowed to chatter about my horse or get advice simply because he is a stallion. I mainly go on the Breeding section, where everybody talks about their colts and stallions, so I'm really sorry if I've overstepped some line on here.
