Facing the hardest day of my life tomorrow.

Was in similar position to you last year, my lovely 11 year old mare who I had owned for 7 years. The knowing before hand was by far worse than the day itself. You are doing what is best and don't let go of that. Thinking of you x

I hope things went as well as they could today. Your horse is lucky to have had such a caring owner.

Thank you everyone. I’m utterly heartbroken, but my lovely vet made it go as smoothly as possible and she went with the sun on her back and a belly full of grass and treats. My wonderful friend was with me and my dad, and I am grateful for their help and support. Run free big girl. I can rest knowing she is no longer in pain and have some amazing memories.

so pleased it went ok and you had support. you have done the kindest thing and now need to remember all the good times you both had..;ppl after yourself ..it will get easier with time although they are never forgotten....

I have tears in my eyes just imagining what you're feeling. I'm pleased it went as well as it could. Those memories will last forever and you should take comfort knowing that you did the best thing by your lovely girl.
Please look after yourself. Big hugs xx

Give yourself time to grieve and dont be afraid to admit it hurts. You have done the best thing you could for your girl and should be proud that when it mattered you made the right choice. She is now in peace and pain free.

Time is a great healer and soon you will mostly remember the fun you had together and not the heartache you feel now. Having been there i really feel for you today. x

remember to take care of yourself for while now xx

I hope you can take some comfort from the fact that you did what was best for her, not what was best for you, a sign of true caring. Thinking of you this afternoon xx

You have done the absolute best you could for her. Your pain now is because you were selfless and took her pain away. Thinking of you

I am glad it went well today. Of course you feel sad today but you have nothing to feel guilty about. As soon as you can try to concentrate on your good memories, don't be tempted to wallow in misery, it won't do you any good. As you have another horse depending on you, I think it does help you to get over your loss, to a degree. You never forget but you do learn to move on appropriately.

I lost my first horse when she was 10 to degenerative joint disease. I was so devastated I went away to uni and it took a few false starts and tears over the years to come back to riding - your youngster is such a good thing for you x

I am so sorry for your loss. You did the best for her and I hope you can take some comfort from that. x
