fag butt found in global herb product

i found a fag butt in my global herb garlic. When i spoke to the manager he told me that in china where it is manafactured unfortunately they all smoke!!!
is this an OK response??
 
Absolutely not in my opinion..

Fags when smoked have cyanide and formaldehyde compounds and alsorts in them.. If there's the slightest chance any of that contaminates the product, I'd not be accepting that.. And I'd be reluctant to use them again..

I didn't know they manufactured in china.. Wonder what else might accidentally get in them..
 
O my goodness. What an awful response! I'd be so cross firstly if i found that in a product for my horses and secondly for a managers repsonse like that! I hope you kicked up a real fuss!

How can any consumer prove what is in the product?
We take these things on trust!
Trading stds methinks!
 
thats what my boss said... contamination is contamination.... when i told him that i couldnt belive that he just said that... he then said "what do you expect me to say"
i am soooooo angry...
 
I dont use the products now as they are not labelled with ingredients so you do not know what is in them, many are very dusty and they could contain anything.
So it does not really surprise me, I use Hilton Herbs as they are clearly labelled and produced in the UK.
 
when i spoke to global herbs this morning they all knew of me as it had been discussed yesterday in a meeting. (sorry really new to this so cant private message you)
he also told me that out of so many ton of garlic that is produced i am the second complaint so thats not bad!!!!
 
Its not so bad as your the second who has complained when so much is produced, thats shocking as a response I wouldnt settle for that not in a million years.... Trading Standards would be getting a call from me and the company purchased the product from, Is there anyone highter that the person you have spoken to if so get a name and send a letter. I for one will not be purchasing a product from this company if this is their attitude to customers and the quality of their products.
 
thats a very good idea piccy... i still have it as i was going to send it to them but not received the bag to do so yet. Thing is, i was made to feel like i was in the wrong for complaining and thats that... The girls that i spoke to on the phone were really nice and said how wrong it was (two seperate ones) but not him!!!
 
We took on Global Herbs products to stock in our shop, but I was very unhappy with the lack of information on the bottle - no ingredients shown there at all! We now stock Equus, and are very happy with their knowledge and help.
 
I second the recommendation for Equus health products, bought something from ebay with their label on it, mare had a funny reaction so I gave them a call. The guy spent 30 mins talking me through the pros and cons of various products I could try and even sent me a comprehensive email explaning it all and the full list of ingredients to the cream she had a reaction to. Top class customer service from them.

I have used Global Herbs stuff in the past but it is so very expensive...

This. I am utterly gobsmacked at the response. I'd defo go to trading standards. Had you used any of it? I'd write a letter of complaint to the head office too - not only due to the fag end in the herbs, but the response of the manager. Surely that is not the kind of behaviour they condone!
 
yes i have used half a bag.. yes i was angry at the fag but .. but more angry at the response to it... saying that as its manafactured in china unfortunately they all smoke!!! and when i said i cant believe waht he said... he asked me what i wanted him to say!!!
dam right rude ... oh and he said that they keep asking the chinese but unfortunately he doesnt speak chinese!!! in my eyes that is not good enough response from anyone let alone a manger
 
this is going to throw a spanner in the works a bit, but i'm 95% certain that the products are actually 'potted' and labelled onsite. they may get the actual supplement in from china, but certainly up until 9 months ago all the potting and labelling was all done on site. they only have one site in the UK, in west sussex so head office is the same place. whats more if u spoke to a man, i'm pretty sure its the boss man himself (the one who i've been told is a bit of a...well...not allowed to say it on here!) :o

Same here and it doesn't surprise me either having heard from someone who worked there.

That is what used to happen when my friend worked there.

In that case they should be offering you more than a refund! I too would be more angry at the managers response. Letter to the head office might not do anything, but worth a try if it gets him pulled up for his attitude. If they record calls, that may go as proof in your favour also.

I think there is only one office (not a Head Office). It really is a very small company in terms of it's production.

Unfortunately, perfectly legal... Neither ingested products or wash off/leave on products need their ingredients listed on the labelling or, in the case of application products, any form of testing... A fly spray could be an emulsified veg oil with a perfume and so long as there are no outright medical/veterinary claims, it's fine... And tough if the human applying it has contact allergies...

Although the GH website has a link to human which includes what appears to be a leave on skin product with no mention of the ingredients - which must, by law, be laid out on labels in a particular order and include any identified allergens - this information should be displayed at point of purchase where a label can't be read... It should also have a safety assessment by a qualified individual to ensure the ingredient blend is safe for human use...

Animal product labelling drives me batty... :(

heard from my friend, the 2 girls that spoke to OP agreed that it was unacceptable, unfortunately the man you spoke to IS the big boss man, therefore obviously his decision :rolleyes: so not really sure where u go from here. maybe a strongly worded letter threatening TS?
 
A terrible response from them. It says much about the fact that herbal manufacturers think we have to import dried garlic from China....I'm sure it's growable/dryable over here for equine products?
