Fancy new products don’t always work!!

I’m saying it doesn’t make you ride any better and it’s all just trying to get you to spend money

I disagree completely and that is a very sweeping statement. Not sure of your age group , but I can assure you a change of stirrups can do wonders for knee pain and foot position as your ageing joints start to fail. And how can you claim that none of the new products work if you have personally never bothered to try them? Do you still use jute rugs and cavalry twill jodhpurs and the old canvas girths?

If you weren't so obnoxiously rude I would have taken the time to post three pictures of me riding in three different types of stirrup irons that clearly show a much improved foot and leg position as I have become less and less mobile. But you know best of course. Good bye, enjoy your thread.

Could I just say that there is nothing special about Equitex pads not moving? I have always removed the straps from saddle cloths to prevent them causing pressure points where they are attached, (and then because i realised they aren't needed on most horses if your saddle fits) and they don't move. I've done it with Shires, Mattes, LeMiuex and others.
Yes, I agree, I have friends who do the same, but I still feel Equitex has a place, no pun intend, in helping the backs of certain horses especially when saddle fitting is particularly difficult.
I also feel the OP is particularly aggressive and determined to be right in everything she says! I don’t often join in with discussions about things and the OP’s manner here is distinctly off putting. It is usually good to hear different opinions.

I’m very

I’m very sorry I’ve offended you! I didn’t know a post posting my opinion on a topic bothered so many people!
I have tried the new type products and find they don’t make a difference ☺️
Just my opinion and again, sorry I’ve upset you. If you look back to other responses to people’s answers on here you will see im very interested in what they have to say!

I didn’t want to come across off putting!

And please feel free to post the pictures! I would love to see someone’s experiences! Agsin,
I’m very sorry to have come across in a rude manner, I just wanted to voice my opinions but I understand it has now upset some of you

But if you have no issues that you want to improve, there is no need to buy anything.

e.g. If you have no knee / ankle pain, stable lower legs, and no issues with feet slipping out of stirrups, then nothing to be gained from changing from basic stirrups.

But if you have e.g. knee pain when riding, and can free trial special stirrups they will either help with the knee pain or dont. It is easy to see if improves and then decide to invest. Why would you know try and see.
I’m very sorry to have come across in a rude manner. I truly didn’t mean to come across in that way. I stand by my opinions about some modern equipment but understand it has upset some of you.

I'm old and personally think fancy new products that replaced jute rugs, tonne weight NZ rugs, girths which rubbed, jods which were transparent and hard to get on, hats with minimal safety, saddles and bridles where the fit was iffy should all be celebrated.

And if someone wants to buy every matchy matchy out there then good on them.
Agree with you on most of this tbf!

I'm inclined to agree, but it would be nice if they could come up with something that could take washing! After a winter my coats are generally showing a fair bit of mud/dirt- although perhaps the answer is to only buy brown ones so it doesn't show 😂

I have had my racing coat for 4 years now. I have washed it 3x in a simple water wash having done a rinse on the machine first before putting it in. It's a Musto and it's incredibly incredibly waterproof still!

Part of the reason I have only washed it 3x in all these years despite the sweat, dirt, mud, blood and grease that it gets on it? I mostly fear I will wash the luck out of it! I have lead up so, so, SO many winners in this coat! I don't want the luck to come out! Same when I had to get new boots to lead up in, I was so reluctant to let my last pair go (I still have them tucked away in a bag!) The first day I wore my new ones I took them to a meeting with a bunch of mediocre horses who were expected to run well enough but we weren't expecting a winner. We had 3 that day! So the new boots were lucky.

Which Musto coat is it? Sounds great!

😂im just trying to hear people’s opinions on modern equine technology etc! Go and talk about you Equitex somewhere else

There is no call for posting like this. Adding a smiley doesn't make it right. As a newer poster with few posts you're opening yourself up to questions about why you joined the forum.

You seem to want an argument.

I don't use Equitex. I do, however, have the ultra technological design WOW girth on WOW saddles.

That doesn't make me better or worse than anyone who dies use an Equitex which works for their horse.
.

I do this too.
Also if a saddle cloth starts to move it can also be a indication that the horse is changing shape and the saddle may need refitting.

I’ve apologised to people who have thought I was rude ☺️
As I’ve said multiple times I didn’t mean to come across that way.
If you look back through previous responses to what people have said on this you will see in very interested in people’s experience and opinions 😊

And if you look back you'll see I edited my post on the light of what appeared to be a genuine apology.

Just thought this was interesting and want to here your thoughts…
Nowadays most riders are all using the new technology based tack and using gear they are given because they are sponsored but think about it… people promote these new innovative stirrups etc but actually they don’t make you ride any better! They’re there for the ‘look’
Charlotte Dujardin won gold in London 2012 using a pair on normal steel stirrup irons! And it goes for other things too for example these new fancy saddlepads thst cost a fortune! She used a normal white saddlecloth on Valegro at london 2012! He still won!
Just proves we’re all brainwashed into thinking that the new products work and that we all need them. I know I’m sticking to my old school stuff!!
I’m going to end the thread here as it seems I have upset too many people. Just to make it clear, I AM NOT here for arguments and I did not mean to come across rude in any way shape or form!

The point is that the top riders get given it all for free so they use it.

They probably wouldn’t bother if they had to pay!

I truly am sorry if you took anything I said in the wrong way. All I wanted to do here is see people’s views on new technology, not upset anyone! That’s not who I am and this has left me feeling Cross with myself

I think you have a light hearted tone that sadly doesn't work in writing until people know you very well. Stick around, just tone down and comments about what other people can or should be writing on "your" thread. Threads have a life of their own once they are set lose in the wilds of the forum, you cant control them.

Your point about people falling for marketing is valid. My latest favourite is hugely expensive "pic'n'mix" horse treats on sale in the onsite saddlery. What's wrong with a carrot?
