Fancy new products don’t always work!!

There is one that confuses me and its that HAAS groom brushes, how are some brushes built specifically for a coat colour? Marketing plot surely?
Ahh now here is one I love!
I have haas brushes myself and can 100% say they work!
I have a grey and the Lippizaner brush gets all her little stains off with no sprays etc!
It’s to do with the type of fibres in the brush and how they work on different colours of coat. And it’s more to do with the skin type of certain colours more than the actual coat colour if you get me

It has nothing to do with the colour of the horse😁😁😁. The names are just to distinguish them (and yes, I have them).

Makes sense!

Yes I know; it's a marketing ploy - nothing to do with actual colours and frankly nonsense.
Yes they may not work miracles but there are certain brushes that work much better on different coat types (colours) for example the lipizanner on greys because the coconut fibres get rid of the stains. So it’s not nonsense ☺️

No, you think they work.....because of marketing. I have these brushes, they are very nice, but they don't do anything different to any other good quality brush. Oh, and I have used them on every imaginable colour of horse.
No there are plenty of pictures proving that the brushes for greys get stains off ☺️
I HAVE done my research and the bristles in the brushes work better on different cost colours/ skin types. The brushes can be used on any horse you’re right! But some are specifically designed to clean specific coat types ☺️

Do you have a link to the proofs? I'm all for one testing new stuff and being open to things, it just baffles me sometimes
This website is saying file too big!! Annoying! But please do go onto exclusive.cos and look at the before and afters on greys! They truly do work! As an owner of a filthy grey I can say that they work very well

From the website… This innovative brush effortlessly eliminates stubborn stable and field-related stains that often mar your horse's coat. The bristles, specifically engineered for optimal stain removal, make light work

*Sigh: of COURSE the brushes "for greys" get stains off; so do brushes not for greys. That is not "proof" of anything other than your diligent grooming. You have done no research, you've read the advertising blurb. But if you want to believe it, knock yourself out there.

How do you prove most riders are using modern kit? What's your sample size?

Ros Canter won the Blenheim 4*L on Sunday using fancy modern stirrups - if they work for her... (also speaking as someone who has ridden in all types of stirrups thanks to riding school life, some actually do help more than others!)

Haas brushes are nice brushes, they work much better than my previous ones but there are probably other very good quality ones that are just as good.

Re the colour thing. If you've ever looked at a leopard spot Appaloosa or a skewbald, the white hair is a little coarser, the coloured bits flatter and smoother so there is a difference in different coloured hair. A friend had an Appaloosa when we were kids and you could close your eyes and feel chestnut spots with your hands. However breed is going to play a part too with some breeds having coarser or smoother hair so a bay native will have a thicker coat than a bay Arab.

I've got a very light bay tb, he is very thin skinned, fine coated and sensitive. I have the chestnut/light bay pack ( bought in a sale) which is about right. The other packs include brushes which are stronger. The Schimmel which is the one for stains/greys would just be too harsh for him.

Plus aside from coat type, people with greys or any horse with a lot of white on them, are going to need a brush to work harder to get rid of stains which will show up more.

My top grooming tip is buy a light bay or chestnut. They don't show up stains but don't get as dusty as dark horses.

Thank you for such a good explanation! Maybe the people who are saying otherwise need to have a read of this!

I follow all the guidance, wash them with the recommended detergent, kn the recommended settings, reproof as they suggest- but they're no longer waterproof to the same degree, or at all, after a couple of washes. Any guidance?

Usually it's the DWR coating that's the issue, and this needs heat, tumble dry or iron, to reactivate. Seams may also need a seam sealant treatment occasionally. Obviously some fabrics will be better than others and I think hiking gear generally better than horsey stuff.

I think technology can be awesome, shock absorbing pads, different stirrups, girth designs, and that's just in my area, saddle fitting. There's a lot of BS marketing, irritating when you see it and know, for instance female friendly saddles are a big thing but once you start assessing riders, pelvis shapes etc, you realise the individual is the ONLY thing to consider. A lot of what I do is based on tech or knowledge/research from the last 10-15 years only.

Top riders do often use something different in the ring to what they use at home, sadly. Sponsorship has a lot to answer for....plus I hear regularly in the industry how a sponsor has rebadged a saddle for a top rider (though to be fair I'm not sure how convincing that is as all saddle models look different!).

Depends on what it is, Go Pro is good for when on the roads, now the Techalogic front and rear camera for the roads is an improvement, Flexi stirrups help with ankle sufferes's, Hi Viz jacket with flashing led's for riding in the dark, Hoof boots instead of shoes, we had non of those originally, lot's of other stuff, so depends on How you view thing's,
