Took Jerry for a lesson this afternoon, he had a day off yesterday so was very fresh, but rideable which was a nice change. He warmed up really well and then started to drop behind the vertical a bit, (this horse is just too good at working out how to get away with not working

) So we worked on getting him to carry himself and work forwards into the contact rather than down and he really got it. So then we progressed to a little jumping, and started working on approaching in canter, which was very exciting, did a double, with a fairly substantial spread as the last fence, which was fine till he forgot to take off over the first fence, got a pole through his legs, then tried to take off over the spread

resulting in him falling on his nose and me abandoning ship

Got back on and came round again, and he jumped it about 4ft in the air and from then on he was perfect, did a little course with fillers to make sure he was ready for Sunday and he flew the lot

Think he is trying to tell me something though, I have now come off a total of 4 times, once when he fell over sideways round a corner, once when he bucked me off, then he went over backwards, and today he went down onto his knees - do you think he is trying to tell me something? Or do I just own an exceptionally clumsy horse

I think he needs to learn where to put his feet, gain a little self preservation and learn to use his own balance! Take him hunting

Hope you are OK!

I have enough nutters to hunt without taking Jerry, think that might finish me off...maybe next year LOL

I am fine thanks, landed on BOTH feet this time

Don't worry I fell off my youngster 3 times in the first 3 months!!

Unfortunately that's young horses isn't it! At least it wasn't as dramatic this time hey!

Go Elli !
Am really impressed that he was so carefull second time round at that fence! briiliant news my trainer always loved this in a horse..

Good Luck tomorrow.

He is obviously learning though as he jumped it better the next time. You can always tell what sort of horse you have by how they come back to a jump after they have messed it up. He didn't want to touch it twice
