FAO 5ft8 - 5ft10 riders!

I am 5ft 10 and ride anything from 15.2 hh tb types upwards. Legs are a bit long on anything smaller but only weigh 10stone ish so hopefully not too heavy.

I am 5ft 9 and lets say more than a little over weight. My horse is 18hh ISH middle weight hunter type.

I really don’t think i need a horse that big but he is a super start so worth all the hassle that comes with a horse that doesn’t fit in most rugs, wagons, stables etc etc.

I'm 5'8 and my horse is 18.1hh, 3/4 shire, 1/4 tb.
And, not the best pic, but gives you a rough idea of size...
P.S. Sorry it's massive - I don't know how to resize!

I am just under 5'11 (fortunately not very heavy) and of my three boys in work the largest one (the dark bay/black in my signature) is just 16hh, one of the Arabs is about 15'2 or 3 and the other (my main endurance horse) is about 15'1hh. All three, however, are extremely broad in the back so take up a fair bit of leg.

I am one of the few tall people who doesn't actually go for big horses!

I'm around 5ft8 (leggy!) and i'm going to look at a 15hh tbx next week. Apparently she isn't a fine built tb but i still dont know if i will be too big for her.

I am 5ft 9 and have a 16.2 TB who is a quite stocky she is like the old classified TB's she would have been bred as a middle weight TB. And a 15.1 very fine TB. But feel guilty ridin her after christmas over indulgence!

This is my daughter...she is 5'10" and rides Benji who is a 16hh tb type:

I'm 5'8" and have a 16.3hh TBxWB. He is quite fine but he looked enormous when I first saw him

I bought him because he is so gentle and polite. Now he feels just the right size and I wouldn't want anything smaller!!!!

I'm nearly 6 foot and I have Monty, a 17hh tb and Zoom, a 14.3hh argy tb.

I do look fairly ridiculous on Zoomy but tbh, she can cope with my weight fine out hunting all day so who gives a stuff!

I'm 5'10 and ride a whole host of sizes. We currently have a 15hh Connemara in for schooling/sale and I absolutely love riding him, he is quite broad but by no means a table top, quite athletic! Personally I came of a 14.2hh at 14 and went straight to a 16.3hh, and have always had big horses since. Had a lovely 16hh TB, very fine, but like the feeling of a lot of horse (up front or deep girth) whether smaller or taller!

I am 5'11 and weigh 13 stone. My horse is a 16.3 TB. Before I got her, I used to hack out with my friend on her 14.1h Section D pony.

5'8" , horse 16.3

i feel most confortable with plenty horse to sit on, i have long legs & people often say that when i'm on him he doesn't look that big, once i get off they say 'he looks massive!'

i can get away with down to 15.2 as i'm slim

I'm 5'9" and my mare is a 16hh ID x SWB/TB. She has a deep girth and good head carriage so I feel fine on her. I used to ride 16.2s but since my major spinal ops I'm better off on something a bit smaller. In the past I've ridden 14.2hh cobs upwards.

Im 5'8 and my old horse was 15.2 but quite a fine full TB so didnt have a huge amount of bone though he had a deep girth. I wouldnt really want anything smaller.

I am 5'10.5", my girl is a 15.2 HW cob.... I am certain I am no hindrance to her as some of the time she forgets I'm there !! The way she prats about and spooks at times I am glad she is such a shorty.. Thankfully I find her width takes up my legs and boy am I glad I have long legs

I'm 5'9" and am a size 14. I ride my 14.3hh HW mare. She carries me no probs what so ever and I find I am so much more confident with smaller horses that big TB things!
This is us (please excuse the bad riding, oh and I was quite alot fatter back then!)
