Got home from work, couldn't find Bracken, our scratty 15 1/2 yr old mongrel. Age is taking its toll on her but she eats well and loves her walks. Eventually found her upstairs asleep on the bed. They're not meant to go upstairs and know they're not allowed on the beds so I stroked her gently until she woke up. She just laid there staring into space for 5 mins. She didn't want to walk down the stairs and kept panting and pacing. Fed them and she ate ok. I phoned the vet and promptly burst into tears thinking this is it. I sat with her for 20 mins just stroking and trying to calm her down. She eventually settled.
Took her into the vets and she only turned into flipping Bambi, leaping and jumping around. Vet called us through, I shut the door and burst into tears again, embarrassing or what ?
Anyway the vet did a thorough examination and can't find anything clearly obvious so has given her a steroid jab and says to see how she goes over the weekend. If not we'll take her back Monday and the vet said she'll take bloods. She's not as confused as she was and is now playing with Buddy.
Blinkin heart breaking animals, why do we do it ??
