We had a really useful lesson yesterday evening. Things have been a bit quiet around here because it has been incredibly hot (several days above 40c last week, yuck!). But yesterday it was cool (28c!) so Henry and I went jumping.

He is so much stronger and seems to be coming into the season exactly where I want him to be. Our lesson was focused on getting my position stronger, we have recently made some changes so we continued to work on those. Plus the usual get Henry to be softer and more in front of the leg.

We are supposed to be going show jumping on Friday evening but the forecast is for 41 so they are probably going to cancel, and even if they dont, i'm not floating a horse in that!

Had a lovely long hack yesterday, the ground has dried up just enough to get some nice long canters in! The hacking from my new yard is very hilly so Buzz is getting super fit with these long hacks, looking forward to the cross country season this year!

Also went to pick our puppy who will be coming home next weekend :D I have posted her on my naming thread but she deserves another post!

The lorry came back from its MOT which is passed (yay) but the guys did me a structural check at the same time and we need some work doing (boo).I've been a bit concerned about one of the side panels recently because baby cob leans on it travelling and I was convinced I could see it bowing in the drivers mirror. I was right! So lorry will be heading back for some eye watering £££ work in March - probably just as its passenger becomes sound enough to justify using it. Popped on him at walk yesterday and he felt sound thankfully but very, very stiff.

Did manage a hack on the microcob. Did a mile detour to pick up a lady from the local livery yard and just that extra mile seemed to shatter the pony and I'm not convinced we've got the bottom of her running out of energy. These are the same routes we were doing all last year without issue so it shouldn't be a fitness issue but there is definitely 'something'.

Hack didn't quite go as planned on Saturday, with an unscheduled dismount halfway. But shouting whoa from a distance works, so that's good to know. Plus, she stood nicely in a small ditch for me to get back on :)
Sunday's lesson was really good. I ended up bright red in the face, but she worked so well, and my instructor got us through a left-rein downing of tools with minimal fuss, so I have some new tips to use for the future.
The best comment was that Amber is keeping her shoulders up by herself now; 8 months of consistent work is starting to pay off. :)

I forgot to add 508kg at weigh in and 5 out of 10 on the condition score, so spot on. Although, with spring around the corner, I'd prefer her to have been 4.5. We'll just have to strip graze to start with when she hits her summer paddock.

Lottie is going to the High Peak Harriers Meet at Chatsworth House today with her sharer. She had to tolerate being plaited for once!
I'm working, but I'm looking forward to seeing the pics and hearing how she went. Aparently is a relaxed day out, suitable for all abilities. And my sharer won't be jumping, so hopefully all will be fine. Beautiful day for it.

I'm sitting on a BHS Education review panel this week, looking forward to receiving what I need to review before the meeting.

Must ensure my comments are professional and well balanced (I've been tipped off what's arriving in my inbox may raise more than my eyebrows 😂) Nice to keep a little toe in the water too.

Weird going back in to the equine world for an hour... interesting session, not sure what the future holds though 😕
