I know I've seen them somewhere but I can't think where. Does anyone know where I can get feed bowls that have raised bits in (good description huh? ) to stop your dog gobbling their food.
They both have a thing for chewing rocks so been a bit wary as I'm worried about them ruining their teeth. Overprotective mummy much I'll have to keep an eye out for some big enough.
i used raise feed bowls for my dogs,im sure you get them if you google raise dog bowls, pets at home sell them aswell
my not stop them rushing but it will help not to take in to much air while eating, ive still gotta put a rock in my dogs bowl..her food doesnt even touch the sides, she eats so quickly
I use huge cobbles for some dogs but find a treat ball is better for feeding dry food for the real gobblers.
If that doesn't slow them enough I throw the food on a clean (& tiled) floor a handful at a time.
Raised feeding is not a good idea as it can make bloat more likely in a dog predisposed to the condition.
The reason this tread was started was as a deportment exercise akin to walking with books on the head and it became a myth that it was a safer way to feed. If you watch wild dogs they all eat lying down if possible.
