Following from the bad breath post I was wondering what anyone else with a porker feeds?

My Corgi was obese on bakers despite 2 walks a day and not feeding ANY extras and actually less than they recommended. He was on a prescribed food and now maintaining a healthy weight on JWB light but his breath drives me nuts.

Any ideas?

Give him a bone and boot him out in the garden with it and leave him there until he has finished with it.

Raw diet feeding things like chicken carcasses or chicken wings which have a higher bone content, lamb ribs with most of the meat taken off. These are very good for weight loss but are still a very satisfying meal for a dog on a diet.

A dogs natural roughage is bone, hair etc not the carbs you find in commercial dog food, which is probably behind the bad breath.

Basically when feeding raw you up the bone content to lose weight and up the muscle meat to put it on.
