Our setter is 8 months old and has decided to eat 1 meal a day instead of the 2 that I normally feed.
I had him checked by the vet who said he looks a picture of health and found nothing wrong with him.
He ate 2 meals until he was 7 months old now he turns his nose up at breakfast and just wants to go out and mooch around the garden. He gets plenty of free excercise and play with my other dogs in a large garden and a good walk ( on the lead )every day
He really tucks into his tea (fed around 3:30 PM) and will ask for seconds!
I am offering breakfast put taking it away if not eaten in 15 minutes otherwise the others will eat it .
I have increased the teatime meal so he gets plenty (fed a measure of complete diet mixed with fresh chicken and tripe)
He will not eat the complete on its own.
All my dogs are fed 2 meals a day particularly as Setters can be prone to bloat
though I have never had a dog get bloat and have had 5 setters.
Do I continue to offer breakfast or just accept he only wants one meal a day and only offer food at 3:30.
He is full of beans well covered and has a lovely shine to his coat.
My other 2 dogs happily each 2 meals a day.
