Hello :)

Firstly, Tont lives out and is slightly overweight (getting closer to ideal though :D), but in the mornings the woman I keep him with wants to feed the four horses a small amount of calm & condition and chaff in the mornings. I really don't want him to have this, but it is so much easier for her if he has the same (I can't get up there weekday mornings). Would the calm & condition effect his weight badly?

Secondly, as I don't want him to have the calm and condition, on weekend mornings, would it harm him to have fast fibre in the same quantity? I know changing feeds regularly upsets the digestive system, but would it be too bad?

Thank you for the advice, Nicole :D

A hot chocolate with marshmallows for whoever answers :D

Can he just have the chaff without the C&C? It is pretty fattening stuff!

That way he'll feel like he's having something like the others without piling on the pounds :)

I can understand that it is easier for the woman to feed them all at the same time but I really cannot see why she needs to give Tont C&C. She could just give him a little chaff. C&C WILL be detrimental to his weight loss programme. If you want him to have FastFibre every day, could you get his feed ready the night before, so she just has to give it to him?. IMO there really isn't any need to give hard fed of any kind to a an overweight horse.

Thanks for the advice :)

It really is easier to give him the same (picture a 68 year old woman struggling up a hill with four feed bowls and four horses), but I'll try and get her to give him just chaff. I've tried really hard to get the weight off him, so this is a bit of a nightmare really

O bless her. She could just carry his chaff on top of the other bucket in a feed scoop or something perhaps. Or in a plastic bag in her pocket and then just put it on the floor for him. It's always difficult when someone else is involved.
