Took a tumble yesterday...:( long story short, decided to take my boy down the out door school, for a change of scenery (we have a small indoor school, but felt we were both getting a bit stir crazy in there!) Bloody snow hadn't finished defrosting down there ( only place in the area where it hadn't) Stupidly I thought it would be ok just to walk round in there......(can you see what's coming??) He broke into a trot, slipped, paniced tried to canter, slipped again, paniced more.....cue me not sitting the most pathetic of bucks and hitting the fence. He panicked some more and jumped the 5 bar gate and headed for home!!

My poor baby was totally beside himself having lost me, I put him in that situation and I feel like ***** because of it. a) I should never have ridden in there in the first place and b) I should have stayed on.

I have a bruise the size of the united kingdom on my side and I've twisted my knee and am totally useless!! :( What makes me feel worse though is that I feel I let him down!!

On the (only) plus side...by god did he clear that gate!!!!!! and he's only rising 5!!

I think we are all getting a bit fed up of the snow tbh. I have been riding in the indoor school all week and both me and my boys are getting a bit bored of it now. Yesterday, I walked one of my boys around the outdoor school in the snow for a bit just for a change of scenery.

I wouldn't put yourself down too much, yes it wasn't a very sensible thing to do with a youngster, but accidents do happen and we all do things sometimes that we regret doing later.

Chin up hun! :)

Another of those really bad ideas (mine ended up with me having a broken back and Dizz being a bit more dingbat than usual).

Learn from it and move on hun :)

Oh, and arnica for the bruise and a hot chocolate for the soul.

oh don't feel bad!! as SJsuperstars says, accidents happen and it's just good that nothing serious happened to you or your horse.

He'll get over it & with some arnica and a warm bath, you will too :)

and yeah, the snow is s**t!

Totally agree.

I haven't ridden for a whole week now and have def got withdrawal symptoms :(

Don't beat yourself up though, I was even contemplating riding a route out from the yard that takes in a road which I have said in the past I wouldn't even cycle along because the cars drive too fast and cannot see around the corners and down the dips!!!

Currently considering larding up her feet and trying out the school - but maybe I should just wait a wee bit?

Well done your boy on a fab jump, and hope you feel better soon :D

Don't beat yourself up mate, horses live for the moment and he would of forgiven you as soon as you put food in front of him :D
Hope you feel better soon xx

Honestly, dont worry about it, we all make stupids mistakes, many ending up in a much worse state that you two did!

Lots of arnica for the bruise and a big cuddle for your clever boy who is obviously gonna be a superstar jump!
