About to go back to yard to see if I can get B to speak to me.... She wouldn't let me touch her AT ALL this am!! I was at the yard for about 3 hours, doing odd jobs, poo picking, waters, playing with H etc... They all had their jabs yesterday - the boys had flu/tet and B had both Flu/tet and her 3rd EHV 1,4 (pregnant mares ideally should have this vaccine in their 5th, 7th and 9th month of gestation). I couldn't get there, as was stupidly busy in meetings at work etc... and YO was happy to see to them for me (she's great!!) She was suitably forewarned about B's needle shyness and I said to do the EHV 1,4 first, as she could wait for her Flu/tet (not actually due till Aug). Well the boys were fine, infact she didn't even have to catch hold of H, he was interested in gettinghis head into the bucket that the vet just jabbed him - he didn't even flinch LOL! They had to bring B in, as she totally freaked out at the vet (male) and they only managed to get her EHV 1,4 done. The last 2 times she has been jabbed by female vets - different practice, as have moved - and although not perfect, was a LOT better than she has been in the past!! MFH_09 cab vouch for how bad she can be to jab and her reaction to some male vets.
Anyway, there is no obvious swelling on her neck, but I could not get near her earlier and she is usually such a sweet girl and friendly and interested. I caught her last night and took her headcollar off (I left all of them in hats, to make life easier for YO) and she was a bit tetchy, but I was expecting that. I couldn't even get her to come over to me for her breakfast earlier!! She is pretty food orientated - not as much as Berry, but still...
Not sure of the point of this - think I might have to find a female vet for jabs if nothing else......
