Pointless post but just beaming from ear to ear (in a very OTT sickly gloating way!! :o) following a sudden turnaround between me and my girl!

She is extremely obstinate in the school and it has taken me nearly two years of being her mum (!) to actually achieve getting her working nicely and consistently. There have been points where I have got so frustrated with her stubborness, coupled with my lack of funds to get lessons on her, that I have lost motivation to ride and gone weeks without.

Then a friend of mine (Pootleperkin on HHO - so thankyou PP!!) came for a visit shortly before xmas and gave me a few pointers with my riding, and also the best way to get the lazy gee gee listening. From then on I have battled blood, sweat and tears practically to get myself listening to myself and also her aswell. Then all of a sudden the last couple of weeks it has just clicked and it feels like I have a different horse - she is forward, like a feather on the hand and working in what feels like (have no mirrors or anyone on the ground!) a gorgeous outline. Admittedly, there is a long way to go - and despite in walk having a 100% consistency I would say in trot it's more like 80%, but it's a MASSIVE difference and such a proud moment for a bit of a numpty rider like me!!!

Sorry, I have probably bored everyone who has reached this far to drink.... :o

So pleased for you. Its a great feeling when things begin to fall into place after a lot of hard slog.
Bet your girl's feeling pretty pleased with her cleverness too.:)

Well done :D

Thanks Rhino!!! I know to some people it doesn't sound like much, but I am having to train myself as I go along with tips from HHO and books etc, as well as Pootleperkin's experienced input too over FB!!!

I only bought her to potter around on and hack, but find myself desperate to get her going nicely and do some interdressage this summer (no transport unfortunately!!).

Aww thanks - yes she did look very proud of herself and thought it deserved depositing a bit of snot on the back of my jods!!

We'll both get there, eventually! I'll get some vids for you tomorrow so you can see her way of going.
Will be nice to see the improvement, when I came up in Jan she was in her giraffe mode! :D

Well done you :D
I had a moment like that yesterday I've been schooling a mare for someone and she loves her giraffe impression  and is realy nosey and loves to look around to see whats going on.
Yesterday I took her to the school and she went realy well :) Despite two youngsters running round the field next to the school and a dog running up and down the outside of the school trying to round us up  She realy started to feel like she was powering from behind :D I was so pleased I rang the owner who didn't answer her phone but shortly after rang me back thinking something was wrong :p

Keep up the good work with your mare and good luck with the inter dressage :D
