Not really sure what happened but I think it went something like this.......
Was cantering along and horse put his head down but not in a threatening to buck or bolt kind of way, really just felt like he was having a stretch?! I pulled to lift his head - probably a bad idea looking back and I should have used my legs/seat to push him forwards from the back - and I think he took that as me wanting him to stop. So he attempted to stop dead from a canter but momentum meant that he sort of consertinered (sp?) and then had to spin his back end round to keep his front end still....obviously I went flying to the ground!
I THINK that's what happened but of course he could just have been a naughty pony and decided to throw a semi bronc in? It definitely wasn't a buck, I know that for sure!
Feeling quite stiff in my shoulders this morning and have spent most of the night trying to work out what happened, why, what I did wrong, what I could have done to prevent it, etc, etc. Fortunately, I don't feel terrified at the thought of getting back on which is a good thing.
What mental process do you go through after a big fall??
