For all those who replied to my post a few weeks ago thank-you
, for those who didn't briefly my mare lost the plot out hacking was rearing vertically (sp) and scaring the bejesus out of me
WELL, had vet out following day spent and hour and a half with us!, did a thorough check in the stable then went out lunged her, fine no problems, followed with a flexion test again no problems, so it was put down to hormones and we started her on Regumate, it was also suggested that we scan her ovaries!!, (will hold back on all the stroppy mare jokes and how ironic comments I received
)
I rode her yesterday (been on Regumate 2/3 weeks), soon as we got off the yard she started again
got off and led her (lots of times) got round the hack but think I may have walked more than riding!.
Today was the day she was booked in for her scan, loaded her and off we went, talking about if there were cysts, treatment, key hole surgery etc. so I knew where I stood not a problem simple I thought, then we scanned NOTHING, healthy ovaries and uterus
something to be proud of I'm sure
, so vet suggested "let's x-ray her back, just to rule out everything while she is sedated", then it went down hill
4 or 5 x-rays later we are looking at Kissing Spine
she was kept in there and then and will be operated on tomorrow afternoon, although it's not the operation we are all aware of!, our vets are carrying out a surgery that they say no one else is doing, a standing surgery, where they cut the ligaments in the affected area, I can't really explain how, it's only available here until a peer review this year, but the success rate I was told today is 95%
I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried but at least there is an explanation for her behaviour now, and fingers crossed all goes to plan, so please send lots of vibes for my lovely Tilly xxx
