So we just bought a new horse who arrived on Tuesday, however about a week and a half before then she cut herself on a fence, she had a flap of skin on her pastern along with a few scrapes there is also a bit of swelling and she is slightly lame (barely noticeable only after lunging for a while). yesterday the flap (was all dead skin) fell off in the paddock. she is fine with me touching it to put cream on.
We were thinking about getting the vet out but we don't want to if we don't have to as it is not cheap and we aren't sure if there is really anything they can do anyway. We have been putting an antiseptic ointment on twice a day which should be helping and were told by previous owners she was on bute and antibiotics for four days after the injury.

Is there anything any of you can recommend? Is it urgent enough to require a vet?
