Firstly, last week, Lady La La and I decided to play hobbit games. We rode into battle against Smaug, and a (rather small) army of Uruk-Hai before turning on each other...
Poor Smaug took a bit of a beating:
And the Uruk-Hai (OK I was improvising a bit)
It would be fair to say, Daemon wasn't phased but the orc invasion:

Only Dae would try to snog an orc!
Oh I tagged this with dressage, didn't I? OK:
I decided to round off the year by taking Fergus out for a cruise around an unaff medium, although my reasons for this aren't supported by a great deal of watertight logic. Largely I just thought it would be a laugh... Which, to be fair, it was!
He warmed up pretty happily and sweetly - despite the carnage of two rings worth of competitors in a very small space, in which apparently no standard rules apply :eek3:
^Shame about the judge's car in the background - I really like him in that one!
Typically I turned down the CL and forgot how to ride like a sensible human being - I seem to be attempting to ride "horizontal dressage". I think someone needs to scream "SIT UP" at me before I start
Hideous:
We did come out with a score the right side of 60, though I was more concerned with how he felt to be honest - there were some really encouraging moments. I felt like he stuck with me a lot more than he has in tests in the past, and most of the mistakes were my inability to multi-task (e.g. trailing Q's in HP - I was determinedly trying to keep shoulders fore and left the Qs to their own devices - which is definitely a learning experience for me).
I presume the judge was baffled by the insane amounts of bling going on:

Which means that we started the year by posting a sub 60 in a prelim, and ended it with a super 60 (in the latin sense) in a medium. Dressage is properly nuts!
