Hi all can anyone recommend a field poo picking set where the fork actually doesn’t break! I have got through loads over the years! The poo picking buckets are always fine but the forks don’t last long especially when the grass is longer! Thank you ?

I have a normal rake with the handle cut down, the grip put back on and it’s brilliant. It wasn’t actually my idea but ended up in my field and the owner denied throwing it over so I kept it ?

I spend my entire life poo picking as I have 4 horses and these rakes are brilliant! O/h & I have one each & I have one in the lorry :)
Are they quite bendy? My big mare has rhino size dung. I see videos of people flicking the dung and I can honestly say hers would never flick anywhere it’s so heavy (so much so that when used a big wheelbarrow, which was slightly higher. it did my shoulder in :( )

I've never got on with the rake & bucket. They work ok when the ground is flat but on a rutty field I can't get it to work.

Have you tried just using a metal shavings fork and a barrow?
I use one like this.

I found the action of lifting the scoop to the wheelbarrow was giving me a sore elbow so I just use gloves and a bucket now.
OP, how hard and heavy are the poos that you're breaking the fork thing? I used to find the scoops broke all the time but never had a problem with the fork thing! ?

Am I the only one who can't use a long handled rake? It hurts my wrists trying to get enough force/action with a long one, so I use a short one and lean on the handle of the scoop somewhat. Maybe I'm using them wrong lol

The "Wolfgarten" interchangeable head, the border rake or similar is the best tool for poo picking paddocks. I actually have a "Wilkinson sword" rake which is identical to the "Wolfgarten" & they are fantastic. When the paddock grass is long these are the tools that will actually help you poo pick. I wouldn't be without one now. Since moving to our yard 6 years ago most liveries have purchased one when they saw us using one. You don't jar you wrists & struggle to collect the poo with these.

I find that the Stubbs poo picking sets are good.
Although, at the moment I've got a Stubbs pan and a Shires rake because they have this nice spongy handle that's grippy when your hands are sweaty in the summer and warmer to hold in winter.
I've killed a few pans in my time! Where the pan detaches from the handle!

Thank you for all the great suggestions everyone ? the standard rake is fine in summer when the grass is short but we have heavy clay so after winter when it’s rutted it starts bending ?
