We have one of these - also a Jack Russell cross. The Field Spaniel is now eleven and in the best of health apart from slowing up a bit. The vet says their life span is 13/14 years though - which made me realise we need to start thinking about a baby to introduce.
We adore our FS. He is a delightful personality - very biddable and loving and we want a clone!
Went to Crufts on Thursday. The number of entries were pitiful (as the breed is endangered) and there appeared to be two 'designs' - one with a lovely labrador type of head (like ours) and the other (apparently more modern) with a head like a setter. Totally inappropriate for a working dog I would have though as they must carry pheasant and need to be strong with a gentle mouth.
Anyway -- we talked to the lady on the FS stand who told us there was a very long wait for a puppy - about 18 months. They are very hard to come by. We should start getting on a waiting list now I suppose. Anyone know a good reputable breeder preferable North England or South Scotland?
