Well for those of you who saw little-pink-piggies' post, I'm home! Spent 11 days in hospital, and don't think I've ever been through so many emotions. Now my pain is under control, the doctors agreed to let me home, although have to go to physio in the hospital every week day for a month. Walking is a real struggle, but I can transfer from wheelchair to bed etc fine now, and am feeling SO much more comfortable.
I had been hacking a really quality five year old, and although he was excited was being very well behaved. We were coming down a slight hill when all of a sudden he just went up on end, and just went completely over backwards. He landed between my legs, and I think did the damage when he pushed me onto my side and used me as a 'prop' to get back up. I have no idea what caused this, and wouldn't have done anything differently with hindsight. The fact that the ground was rock hard and icey probs didn't help!
The pain was pretty dazzling, and lying in the middle of a freezing field waiting for the ambulance wasn't pleasant. I broke my left hip twice, right hip three times, broke my pelvis in three places, snapped the top of my Femur and bruised three vertebrae. Then discovered really painful organ bruising so couldnt eat for 6 days! There was talk that I would have to have a metal cage coming out of me for six weeks, a suggestion I had found really upsetting, but by remarkable luck a leading surgeon, Mr Curwin, was around, and managed to pin it all instead in a 6 hour op.
Here is a CAT Scan of my pelvis prior to the operation:
Starting to come to terms with not being allowed to ride for 12-15 weeks. Two days before the accident I had had the most wonderful Junior Team Training, and just feel like such a promising season has slipped through my grasp. Reading people's experiences on here again makes me jealous (!) but I guess its vital this heals for the future.
So thank you for your comments, which were relayed back to me in the hospital. Going cold turkey with no internet connection made me realise how addicted to hho I am
