The bay is a 6yr old gelding by broughton buster (full brother to hoys 3rd place winner Llanfyllin shooting star) with derwen and nebo on the dam side it is craignant flyer out of llanarth flyingcomet. The mare is out of a cascob stallion, with derwen and hendrewen bloodlines.
I have only had the chestnut filly 4 weeks and has proven to be a little monster however I think we are slowly bonding! The gelding is an absolute saint I have had him since he was 3.
I got some feedback on her at her first show on sunday, she has a very straight free movement, really uses her behind and free from her shoulder and not the typical d action, she got placed first in youngstock and novice but didn't get placed in m&m so I was thinking of maybe clipping her out for ridden and doing show hunter??
Which show did you take her to? I don't rate mixed M&M classes TBH, they are usually won by showy section Bs or Connies(no offence to anyone). It may be good for her to do ridden during the winter and then get her to the big and county shows in the summer, the big judges are always looking for something different from the norm.
It was a local show Equus riding club however the bay we show affiliated and he does really well, the picture was from one of his earlier shows this year as he has been brought on really slowly he is improving all the time - just working on the big extravagant trot at the minute!! However I do think she is more striking and works naturally more correct so really hoping to do something special with her, she has only been backed a few weeks and we are taking things nice and steady hoping to get her to some ridden stuff Jan through to March however we'll have to see how she gets on! Do you do the big shows then we may have bumped into each other already!!
I have cari don't know if you knew her she had pogo for a bit if you remember, she used to show intermediate show pony so we are just learning how to ride a cob and she is doing really well! She loves him too and treats him like her own so its a good result all round!
Not at the moment, I used to with my shettie and helped out with my friend's D, I really love in hand showing. Got a young Haflinger now and I'm not sure what classes she will be going in!! She's just coming into work and I'm hoping to take her to the winter show at AireView as it's literally just down the road from us!
Where is Aire View? Is it keighley?? We are struggling for shows for her and would really like her to see a few before next year! We are going to Richmond In November thats a propoer welsh in hand medal show - I guess I'll get a better idea of how she'll get on there!
I had to get a young lad from our yard to show her as i cannot run fast enough to get her running on, her stride is just so long, and i'm so unfit! I put a treadmill on my christmas shopping list!
