Finding 3.5 horsebox

How hard is it to find a good second hand box?!
Where are the best places to find adverts for a 3.5 ton box? I don’t have a massive budget but it’s a lot of money for me - £20k! But all I can seem to find is barely road legal vehicles. I know prices have gone up recently but this is getting frustrating. I seem to spend my life searching Facebook marketplace at the moment, is there anywhere I should be looking? Based in West Yorkshire if anyone knows of any good dealers?

Just give up ? that's what I've done! Had a budget of 25k and haven't found anything that I'd put a horse in so far..! Been looking for best part of a year but last few months more seriously.

Bit of a trek geographically but with your budget I'd get yourself on the radar of TravelTwo horseboxes and be prepared to act quickly.

I spoke to them a fair bit when i was looking and found them helpful and straightforward. Think they build some themselves now but they usually have some through about that price range but they sell fast.

I didn't have the buying power to get one of theirs but got one they'd previously sold when a returning customer was upgrading, they tipped me off to it.

I'd agree with speaking to Polly at traveltwo. She gave me loads of advice when I was looking. My budget was smaller than yours so the few she had in my budget in that time I missed out on but she gave me an idea of whose builds tended to be solid which helped narrow my search. My box was still a bit of a money pit but aren't they all? I'd expect most of her used ones would be in budget for you but you'd probably need to move quickly

I bought my little used box in June from Polly. I bought unseen as I had never heard anything bad about her and due to the distance. I paid her son and husband deliver. It was one she’d sold several years ago and the owner passed away so the family had asked her to sell it. A friend also has one of her own builds which she’s very happy with.

Marlborough Hunters are also a good sound build but obviously you’d have to see what state they were currently in.

Facebook market place and preloved I found to be best, I bought mine from fbook 18 months ago. Second hand decent makes come up fairly regularly within budget. Equi sport and 3 counties would be able to help at that price easily

I had one built by Polly at TravelTwo earlier this year, very pleased with it. Paid about 21k I think, and even Polly said I could probably sell it on for more than I paid for it, prices being what they are at the moment. Not that I will mind ?

I also spoke to Polly when l was looking to buy a 6.5 box and found her really helpful, she came up with great advice and in fact l eventually had one built by one of the people she suggested. Well built boxes hold their value and l sold it a few years later when l downsized. Def worth chatting to her and be prepared to buy unseen unless you live nearby.

I bought a secondhand Theault from Theault dealer Atacanter for £17k It's a fabulous box with an extra exit at the back. Lots of excellent safety features and very solidly built. Atacanter have been really helpful when things need replacing or advice needed.
