Ok so it's not the neatest job, but I figured as he is changing his coat, it will blend in :o he doesn't like having his legs trimmed, and with my clipper blades completely blunt (been meaning to send them for about 5 months! ) I had to do my best with scissors and trimmers!
I started to pull his afro mane too and it doesn't look too bad

So here he is all hairy..

Still hairy but trimmed up a bit...

And now with feathers clipped off, mane pulled (even though you can't see it on this side, this is the best picture I have as he didn't want to pose today) and ears trimmed!

This was how I found him before his hair cut, he lives out but comes in every day for grooming, check-over, work and food- so will sometimes wait to come in so he can sleep on his bed (that I hadn't had chance to put down yet, so I had to move all his legs and tuck him in :D )

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww love the last photo!

Smart horse and he looks doubly smart with the feathers off!

:)

Much better, he looks very smart now!

Did you make a decision about uni and horses btw? I can remember you posted a while ago about not being sure what to do...

Lovely horse. Is he Irish? I have one very like him who is sprouting hair everywhere. Which trimmer/ clipper would you recommend for feathers etc?

Ah yes, well I'm visiting the uni next week that I would go to. I am accepting the offer for 2013 entry I think if I like the place, but I do have a chance to defer :) so I have a bit more time to think over the summer luckily ! Whatever happens I will keep my little buckskin girl as she can cope fine with time off- she's more than happy to stand in a field eating ! I've been giving my sister lessons on Finn and she's clicked with him now after a few sessions and has just started jumping him which is great news ! so even if I don't find a suitable loan or new home- he can still be worked when she has the time and when I come back. So there are a few options :)

Yes he is from northern Ireland, was shipped over in June. :)
Always thought he was more TB like- then he muscled up and I could see a bit more chunkiness in him- then feathers appeared !

Well my trimmers struggled, I have the lister legato and I had to scissor cut the feathers right down to stubby hair until I could use them. I have the Lister Star though and they are fantastic, I'd never clipped before and even around the tricky bits they didn't nick him once and made it very easy to remove the hair- and they also made light work of a very hair Irish Connie who's coat resembles a polar bear by october

I did kind of like his feathered look, but I like to keep his legs white and the less hair to keep white, the better! Plus his boots were getting a little tight :p

Same with mine. He was very smart and trimmed but he's becoming quite hairy and have only had him a couple of months! Will have a look at buying some similar clippers. I think yours looks great after his makeover.

He's gorgeous (hairy or trimmed!) Lovely pretty face to go with his nice markings too:) I prefer him trimmed (but i prefer everything trimmed!) Love the snoozy photo-he looks like a little kid who can't keep his eyes open a moment longer....:D

Could always just photoshop the clydies off for satisfaction value :D
I will ask my dad what the camera is, the ones at the livery yard are taken on my phone (Samsung S2 ) - all my videos are taken on my phone as well ! My dad loves his cameras so every show I go , I have my own personal photographer :p

He couldn't keep his eyes open, he always has a sleep at 11am- same time as my mare,

The pair of them this morning! I must work them too hard

I went back to check on him to see if he was awake yet,
"5 more minutes? "
