Hi,

After a few outings with my mare I'm considering trying out a BD prelim - due to work commitments I can't always make the unaff dates at my more local venues so this will give us more flexible dressaging opportunities.

What do I need to do - just be an associate BD member to enter? Also how established are the combos entering generally?! My mare just needs a few more miles on the clock, for the most part she's good (65%+ unaff) and usually works in a nice consistent outline but can tense up and/or be a bit spooky at times.

Any info gratefully received! :)

I recently did prelim 15 at BD as my little cob's first ever outing! I'm a full member but I just associate registered her & you can do the same.

In terms of level of other competitors - my horse is weak in canter, in fact she rather forgot how to canter right in front of the judge ;) though otherwise she works in a more-or-less consistent rhythm & soft outline, is fairly straight and I think she does reasonable transitions. We weren't quite last... the top scoring combinations looked very polished.

Give it a go :) You haven't got anything to lose :)

Go for it as you find all kinds of people inc me at BD (or you do up here), I compete on the associate membership at Prelim mainly as they are well run and my friend who gives me lifts competes at Novice. We have had our wobbly moments, giant spooks and iffy canters but its good feedback :)

Thank you :) we won't be perfect by any means but don't want to look totally out of place! Madam needs more arena time so this is a good way to do it.

Ass a non 'paid' member do we need to enter the Open section of the class? TIA :)

Thanks for all the replies :) very helpful. After another pretty good lesson this morning I am about to enter P12 at the end of the month. Eeeek!
