I put my brave boots on and entered the new boy in an unaffiliated BE80 in a couple of weeks! Excited is an understatement!
It's his first time eventing (but we've had a few outings together, including xc schooling) and his first event as a registered ROR. He has the most lovely jump, and really tries anything you put at him. Moves lovely, has lovely long legs and a great rhythm, quite striking to watch. He's fit and ready - really the only dodgy thing here is me!
My goal is to enjoy ourselves and get around everything if we can. Just looking to have a fun day out and build our partnership! He could easily jump higher with a better jockey, but thought the 80 was a great confidence giver for both of us. Plus he's still not too keen on water without a lead!
I've looked up the regulations and I have the correct back protector, but need to buy a skull cap - I'm thinking either Charles Own Pro II or if not Champion (as have had this one before) if anyone has any experience with those.
My last ODE was pony club days so I feel very out of practise! Any advice or tips? Will make sure to update after we're back!
