So, TBH I didn't think I would go, and wouldn't have if I hadn't been giving someone else a lift. It was CHUCKING down, freezing cold, windy and just altogether horrid. Everyone else from the yard bailed but I thought what the hell and off we went (after a 10 min altercation with other horse who didn't want to load).

Because of the withdrawals I moved myself up the list, tacked up, jumped on, trotted around a bit with a VERY spooky pony between my legs, quickly gave up asking for any kind of roundness (all too spooky and wet and she kept having to shake the rain out of her eyes) and in we went to enjoy the giddy height that is Prelim 13...

Lets just say accuracy is STILL not a very strong point of mine, and I obv cannot ride a 20 mtr circle for love nor money

She changed in canter, which makes me think there must still be some uncomfortable feelings somewhere, but all in all we didn't COMPLETELY disgrace ourselves and I didn't forget the test!

Now, not sure how much we scored, although I have the test sheet in front of us. Out of 240 we got 139, but I don't think the *x 2* marks WERE x 2, if you get me

Here is a copy of the test sheet, so if anyone can tell me what we got % wise I would love to know!

Threw a martingale on and went straight into jump without knowing the course, but we were soaked to the skin by then! Jumped really nicely and steadily, trotted around the corners because the ground was super slippy, had a silly run out at 8 due to long reins and lack of communication, but doesn't appear I got marked down for it, which is strange!

TBH I don't think such weeny jumps do either of us any favours

Anyway, ended on 101 pens and came 8th, rosettes to 6th, so not fair

As always, open to comments, etc, but bear in mind I actually could not feel my fingers LOL!

Maybe next time I can break the 60% barrier

Honestly though, I was creasing up laughing watching the video back; the words "am I bovvered" came to mind

I think you did brilliantly, it looks absolutely freezing there and really miserable, def success! Well done

57.91% (the double marks had been added correctly)

You poor soggy person. Your weather looked really horrid. Hope you and P and your tack (including lovely new saddle) are all dried out now.

Her trot is lovely - really nice rhythm, I'm sure her outline is getting better all the time as she muscles up, you wil be getting top marks in no time.

She was very good in the jumping as well, except that you mustn't have bought those non slip reins that I recommended a few weeks ago. I have tried mine in the rain and they are fab. Jeffries biogrip are also good, but about 3 times the price.

Well done again. I think most people would prob have stayed at home. I am amazed that our weather here stayed so good, I didn't even need studs where we were yesterday.

I must admit I used my crappy Sabre today as I didn't want my WOW getting soaked
blush.gif
Which prob led to a little tension over her back, but never mind
laugh.gif
We can work really nicely, but I admit I did 5 mins today and then went in as it was SO disgusting
crazy.gif
I really am the worlds worst warmer-upper
grin.gif

MUST buy those reins now, I really did struggle today

WORC event, at Calais Oak - lots of low key stuff going on, no pressure at all - like one woman got elim SJing and she stayed in there until she got her horse over the fence he refused - I like that attitude
laugh.gif
There is quite a lot coming up around here - The Blue Cross have some dressage and CT coming up and that is nice and low key too
laugh.gif
THen there is WORC show on 1st July too, plus my yard is having CT during June too - will put dates up when I know them.

Oh bless her- the weather looks horrific, no wonder she was spooky!

I think you were right to go- I think the experience of competing in rain/wind etc won't have done her any harm at all- you never know when the weather might turn suddenly at a comp that is really important to you.

She is looking as gorgeous as ever even in the rain!

I would have done exactly the same, I so HATE getting my tack wet, if I had more money I would buy a synthetic set to use in the rain.

I think you definitely need to buy those reins.

Fiona

Low pressure and everyone turning a blind eye when it all goes horribly wrong is exactly what I need!

Your vids look like it's so quiet and laid back (though realise that it could just be that hardly any one was mad enough to brave the weather!

)

Its always like that with our RC, everyone is really friendly and helpful and willing to help if your horse needs the mileage - our yard is like that too, so will deffo forward the dates to you

Thats great! well done!!
I have started riding after 12 yr break

I have decided to enter a ODE at the end of Jul and im nervous already!

It looks like a great place I wish I had transport I could do with something like that to get me going!!

Well done for taking part, I can't wait to get back in the swing of things with s.j and x.c. may b learn dressage again as i'm also sooooo out of it, been a while now but ready to go again...P looks lovely

OMG can’t believe you went out in this weather! You and P did brilliantly for your first time, 57% is a great result!

So you went for option (a) then?

Well done! Not a bad score for 1st outing, mine was 42%!
blush.gif

I didn't go to the dressage I had entered for today as it was soooo windy here and it's all open windy roads to the show, plus Toff was cold and grumpy this morning so chances of me even getting her loaded were slim! Went along to see turnout and it was very poor and the dressage was also on grass but had tracks of water so wouldn't have been able to keep her on track as we don't "do" puddles!
crazy.gif

Shame as it's the RC's first annual show and was a wash out
