after a very late night at pony club area quiz (6th
should have done better, but team tactics were to do well, but not well enough to go to champs
) meaning that I didnt get to ride my horse as went straight from uni - so Thats a total of 7 days non-riding before the test
Hows that for practice
Also meant that I didnt get a chance to clean my brown tack (which used to be black
) so apologies to the organisers
Anyways, the dressage
Warmed up well, we have finally cracked walk to canter on the left rein, which was fantastic - he finds it soo easy now
Lots of puddles which were fun to canter through, as it scared all the poncy ponies
Loved his expression though as we cantered through them
First test, BE 112, lets just say that there is a lot of improvment to be done. A lot.
Basics were good but not in dressage mode yet, not very supple through turns and general resistance (see piccy below!) but our rein back was the best its ever been - and we got a square halt at the end of test! Although he tried to buck the whole way through medium canter circle - managed to control it though
But we got a very deserved 60.5% and lots to work on, so I'm happy
The next test was the BE 116 - my first Intermediate test! forgot that it was done in sitting trot though, and the last time I did a test in sitting was easter 09
But same as last test, need to work on increasing suppleness and decreasing resistance!
Shoulder in actually was quite nice, got 6's for it, and considering no practice was pleased
Extended walk was interesting as his normal free walk has about 4 hooves over-track, so bit
as how to make the walk bigger!
I was quite proud of myself, managed to do whole test in sitting trot and not be completely puffed at the end of it! But boy, my stomach will be sore tomorrow
Got 56% in it, not great but for first int. I'm pleased, we didnt finish last so not totally out of our depth!
Thanks for reading
some piccys - the halt before rein back (note v.bad resistance)
and just general trot work
(i think its the corner before shoulder in, not sure
) Actually it is the corner before shoulder in, going by the colour of my face
Hows that for practice
Also meant that I didnt get a chance to clean my brown tack (which used to be black
