Do you still have yours?

I was just wondering as not many people I know still do.

I have owned my first pony 26 years now, she's 27/28. I have had tother ponies come and go but never sold her on as she was so much fun and still is. She was my three daughters first pony too! They are now in the teens and moved on to younger ponies and horses but Mony still goes out for a hack and does showing and occassional jumping and gymkhana classes and still loves it. My fields would be empty without her and my herd would feel lost without their 'mum'!

I had my first pony until he was 34, he was fab if a little nutty. He tanked off with my mum once!. Once I got too big for him a girl in the village came to ride him.

Wow, lucky you. I have only ever been able to have one horse at a time

Had to sell my first pony before I could get a bigger one. I've always kept horses at livery though.

I do fully intend to keep my current horse for the rest of her days though - will have to find a way to pay for 2 when she needs to retire

My first one was only on part loan and his owner had to sell him when she got divorced, I would have loved to buy him but she wouldn't let me as I was already outgrowing him and she knew I'd be stuck with a pony I was too big for within a few months.

She let me have her Section D on loan instead as she couldn't afford to keep him either. I had him until he died 14 years later. I ended up 'buying' him for £5 soon after as her lovely ex was threatening to sell him for meat. He bought him for her as a present and insisted he was his owner, so she sold him to me before he could do anything on the understanding that I sold him back to her for the same if she ever wanted me to. She then had to move away because of him and left the pony with me so she never bought him back, although she kept in touch as much as she could.

I had a couple of loan ponies when i was younger, but if we're talking about actual ones we owned, then my 'first pony' was my 16.3 ISH who i still have

I had my first owned ony from when he was 5 months until he died aged 35, he went and lived with my friends daughter and taught her to ride then came home and taught my daughter the basics.

I miss him, he was a real character that new all the tricks and even at 33 I wouldn't have let him off the leid rein with anybody that couldn't ride properly and even then he could get most off if he decided he'd had enough.

We still have 2 little ones, 11.2hh and 12hh, they are both 17 years old and we have had them for the last 10 years, our 11.2hh is out on loan with a friend for her little girl as he still enjoys being ridden, the other one has been retired for the last 4 years, he is a headshaker so not really ideal to ride, we owe them everything and would never ever part with them. Hoping there are many many more years to come.
