Hi everyone :)

So this weekend I'm taking my horse to our first ever competition! Decided to do show jumping as it's really what we're best at IMO :) My only aim is to win a rosette, so hopefully we will!

It's only really tiny jumps - we'll be entering the clear round jumping to warm us up, then the 30cm show jumping class, so really tiny!! (Does this sound like a good plan?!) I'm still really nervous even though the jumps are so small because I'm a bit worried about making a fool of myself if I get anxious (very likely) and also if I don't ride very well because I'm nervous.

I really want to do the competition, as I know I'll be so proud of myself once I've done it and I will have completed a goal I've had for a long time with my horse.

I think that the horse will be fine, he's a pro and I know we're ready for this, though I'm slightly worried about the spooky fillers..

Does anyone have any advice and tips to help me just enjoy the experience and not worry about embarrassing myself or making mistakes? I'm worried that it might be a really competitive place and I might not fit it, I'm not competitive at all really!

Thanks in advance, can offer tea and galaxy chocolate! :)

Don't be worried, chances there will be other riders feeling the same. get to venue with lots of time to spare for decent warm up and don't forget to breath lol! If you are nervous when you get there, walk horse around in hand first and make sure you have someone with you to help. Best of luck:)

Thank you showpony! I'll have friends their to help me and I'm hoping when I'm actually doing it I shouldn't be so bad, it's the build up to it that's worse!

Forgot to mention the other reason I'm super nervous is because I'm taking the horse by himself for the first time and honestly am not sure how he'll react. But if anything it's good experience I guess :)

Good luck, just try to enjoy it :) You'll probably find that there are no scary fillers to jump until the bigger classes.

Just thought I'd let those who were kind enough to reply how we got on :)

Had a fantastic time! We were late so went into the clear round quite quickly. The round went well, horse slightly looky at the fillers but that's because I was nervous of them I think! We had one stop at a scary plank but other than that it went really well, I didn't ride positively enough at it. We then went again so we could get a clear round and we did! :D Then somehow we got convinced to do the first proper class and did a really flowing clear round and got through the jump off! :D I was really nervous but we jumped another clear as it was my fist jump off ever but went clear and came 5th!!!!!! :D So thrilled, the horse was brilliant and I'm so proud and happy with it!!! :D
