First showjumping comp with new horse..

We went to Hoplands today- just to do the tiny baby classes- as I wanted to see what he is like at a comp and wether we have any control!

Also I'm still testing lots of different ways of riding him.

Poor Woody-he must have been so offended by the tiny jumps!
But the first class he was great, we had beautifull control, but because I was so focused on the control it meant that I held him back a little too much so there were a few untidy jumps. Nevertheless he got a double clear and came 4th

I was really pleased with his balance though, it was so much better.

The second class he wasnt as relaxed and was a little more tense , and because I dislike untidy jumps like we did in the last class, I over-rode him too much, so in this round he was rather strong

but I still had steering and I still managed to stop

An achievement indeed!!

Basically he didnt really put a foot wrong and was an absolute dream to handle and to ride- he just had a ball of a time and really enjoyed himself!! From all past reports I was expecting him to be tricky.

Just now got to get the control back that I had in the first round, but I have to be much more relaxed and find a slightly better rythym..but I am thrilled with him, really thrilled

I like the way you used the corner to make him stop and think, that's clever training.

You've got your work cut out for you to make him listen to you but he's lush and I hope you have a real fab time together

LOL ! Thank you everyone! Wizoz-! Yes using the corners/arena walls is our current trick to make him pull himself up and slow down a bit! I've got to be much, much quieter in my seat though then everything will be so much easier..
