So this weekend will be my very first dressage test! It's unaffiliated intro B but I have no idea what i should be wearing. We normally do show cob classes and show at county level so dressage is a whole new experience for both of us.

So the question is what should i be wearing? I know the tack ruling so will be taking him in his brown snaffle bridle and show saddle but do i need a white dressage square or can i use what i use for showing?

With my turn out can i wear my normal showing (tweed jacket, shirt, tie etc) or should i be wearing something different?

Any tips would also be a bonus!

Your showing kit should be absolutely fine :)
most people will wear a stock with their jacket but a tie is totally acceptable.
Provided your bit is dressage legal then your tack is also fine. again most people will probably use a white square but they aren't necessary, just have to be a conservative coloured pad or numnah.

Thank you, i don't want to look out of place although being a huge maxi cob i think we will any way :p

The only other jacket i have it my navy wool jacket for evening performances. What would be more suitable, tweed, shirt, tie; or navy jacket etc.

whatever you're most comfortable in. Tweed is absolutely acceptable and there are usually plenty of people in tweed round me.

I’ve done a bit of unaff. including Intro B and have seen loads of tweed and ties as well as dark jacket and stocks. You’re experienced in showing so your cob will be super smart looking 😊Good luck and let us know how you do!

I've just done same test last week on my project native, I dragged out all my (very) old show gear; tweed with shirt and tie, borrowed a white square off a mate and according to a couple of stressage friends I didn't look out of place. I didnt use the show saddle as she doesn't quite fit it yet, so off we trundled in the brown Wintec...I didnt plait either 😳 but wanted it to be as easy as possible :)

Thank you all for your advice and good luck messages. Iv just seen that I need to wear a bridle number so will pick on up at the local tack shop this weekend. Iv also read online that there must be a number on each side of the horse. I won’t be using a dressage square so will I put one each side of the bridle??

Either one each side on saddlecloth or both sides of bridle. You usually buy them in a pair, white or black.
My very local unaff venue just does numbers as per shows to tie on back to those not having own number sets.

Thank you everyone for your comments, and as promised here are a couple of pictures from today. Unfortunately didn’t manage to get any from the test because my sister was calling but here’s some from the warm up. Everyone was really friendly and was extremely relaxed we had a great time and to top it off came home with a lovely red rosette! Happy bank holiday everyone
