First weekend in Feb plans

In my head a lot of leavers were also around the time admin got a bit more heavy handed and it was a bit if we can’t have it how we like it we’ll go elsewhere. (I vaguely remember them putting Lucretia on mute for a but or something?)

I'd forgotten about her! Wow, yeah...

ETA did she not get banned? My memories are that she was given a couple of temporary bans but kept doing what she did so was gone?

My memory is shocking but I thinking peak time was around 2008 - 2012ish

There was still a weekend plans thread but I stead of replying on it after the weekend people would make their own threads/posts about their clinic/training/comp

One HHOer went to Burghley and had a horse fall. They got ripped by quite a few hhoers & from my perspective that was the beginning of the end. One of the most vocal naysayers who liked to remind everyone what level they'd competed at did a 180 and became the forum police about who could comment on what so people kinda stopped saying anything good, bad or just for discussion.

As LEC said a whole lot of regular and/or higher level competitors and trainers all exited (I think for TE originally but that didn't last!) and there hasn't really been anything matching LECs outline criteria eventing wise.

There used to be quite a busy dressage contigent but they've all melted away too (OT: who was the dressage poster with the chestnut mare (Jazz?) who possibly had psd? She posted a lot then just vanished and her user name is bugging me). I guess covid hasn't helped either and new forum habits have formed keeping everything on thr weekend plans thread

Ah, thank you! Looks like I must have arrived after the glory days ?

Used to really enjoy the eventing reports particularly the solicitor who had a small child - I think she was the one who went to America and had Carrot the horse as someone else mentioned. Her reports were brilliant.

Hot to Trot

I've drifted in an out over the years. I do remember most of the old names... some of whom are FB friends who I keep in touch with from time to time. I joined in 2005, posted a lot from then through to end of 2006 - I was finishing my A levels and ended up finding my novice event horse a great loan home through this forum. I then moved to London and forgot about HHO.

I drifted back in in 2010 when I bought myself an ex-racehorse, and then ended up working in racing and hung around through til about 2014. Was working full time with horses by this point but not competing very much (because no money, no time). Met quite a few people from the Surrey area from here in RL - TarrSteps helped me with a tricky racehorse I worked with.

I think around 2014 I probably wandered off to #TE for a bit and totally forgot about this forum.

I broke and came back in 2021 weirdly because I was searching the internet for advice about Stubben width sizes and found a post by me giving me the information I wanted and had forgotten. Since leaving and coming back I've got more serious about my amateur competing and no longer work with horses full time. I have more of an itch to scratch about talking (or voraciously arguing) about eventing because I'm at a big yard (100+ horses) but am the only person who SJs or events at any kind of level.
