My mare is starting to get really crabby about having her girth done up, but also her rug sircingles too, which leads me to think that maybe she has sensitive skin under her belly.

Have any of you who may have been in a similar situation tried a fluffy girth sleeve and seen an improvement in their horse's behaviour when tacking up?

I've already wasted £15 on one thing for her this week, don't want to waste more for no reason again!

and yes, it does seem to work on my mare. would love to buy her a sheepskin one for best (!!) if my budget stretches that far, so am eager to see what others use.

I am going to get one for my moody mare as she is very sensitive when having her girth done, more so when she hasn't been worked regularly.

i have them on all my girths.

my mare can be tickly with the girth and she is far better with the sleeve.

i have cheap ones for at home and hacking and a nice proper sheepskin one for comps.

I got a cheap one for about £3 from my local tack shop. Works well although it keeps falling off when i undoe the girth and it slips.

I've always used them - saves me having to clean my leather girth every time I ride and hopefully means less likelyhood of girth galls. I just use the cheapo fleecy ones as they are much easier to wash. Are the sheepskin ones washable?

The NuuMed ones are very good and wash like new every time. Especally if you use the NuWash to wash them with. I have them for my dressage girth and ordinary girth for my mare.
