Bought a fly rug 1 month later developed holes where the straps are sown onto the actual rug so returned it, after a bit of arguing and me being stroppy they took it back and manufacturer agreed it was faulty. Got the same rug in a replacement 2 weeks later guess what....holes again!

The annoying thing is that last year I had a different make of fly rug and it was actually a size too small but never had a fault was fab until my horse rubbed a mahoosive hole in the neck and i had to repair it with plaiting thread. This rug is the correct size and everything, and now the shop informs me that they have had a few returned faulty! So they knew there was something up the first time but were just being a pain in the arse.

Wanders off to get a refund

Was this the Fal sweetitch rug ? Mine literally disintegrated. My horse is not heavy on rugs and this is the only rug in 7 years of owning her, that she wrecked. I would never buy another Fal.

I use the Rambo sweetitch rug it is brilliant had it for 2 years, horse is in it all summer and still not a single tear in it

If the first rug was premier equine then I am not surprised. I bought one for G one year at Badminton and it has holes in it within a week.

I now have the weatherbeta one in 2 colours. Fantastic and has lasted a couple of years with no rips or anything like that.

My premier equine rug is fantastic!

I had a fal which the straps fell off every couple of days. he then managed to get it off over his head still done up. Now its in about 20 pieces as it got stuck in his back shoe ripped , twisted all the way round, hood still done up straps so tight the buckles were digging in! It had to be cut off him as he couldn't walk! I think this rug is dangerous! I am now using a premier equine but sadly this rubs his shoulders. Does anyone have a big shouldered warmblood and can recomend a fly rug that doesn't rub. I don't want to spend another £150 on a Fal and then worry about him getting caught up in it.
