As spring seems to be hopefully on its way I'm looking for a fly rug with a neck that doesn't slip down so it leaves half the neck unprotected. I've been looking at the westherbeeta and HY ones that go over the ears, does anyone know if they are any good? I had an amigo and a masts last year and they both did this, nearly strangling the horse in the process.

I have a Premier Equine one with earholes. It's good, she sometimes gets her ears out having a roll but the neck still stays up as it's fastened around her chin.

Shires sweet itch ones are fantastic - gutted my mare ripped hers on the fence though!! I have a weatherbeeta one with ears which is great.

Did have a premier equine one, but found my girl sweated loads underneath it. She also managed to contort out of it somehow and nearly strangled herself, despite all straps and leg loops still being connected.

I have PE stay dry (with the waterproof topline), doesn't slip and is a good fit however mare did sweat in it so I wouldn't recommend the stay dry types. I have a PE Bug Buster as well, again is a good fit but I didn't get to try it out last year so can't comment on its performance.

I hate fly rigs but was impressed by the premier equine superlite rug last summer. No slipping, no pulling back, no sweating.

Thanks guys sounds like one with ears is the way forward. One more question for those already with the over ear rugs, could u then fit a fly mask over the top?
