Another recommendation for the Rambo Sweet Itch Hoody. Owned it for two years and still looks good. Even on the hottest day horse stays gool and comfy.
I have the rambo protector and the equine premier - both very good rugs and best of all the neck can be detached so you have a choice.
Given a choice between the two, I prefer the protector, but the premier is cheaper and to be honest almost as good.
They both are ok for mild SI but this year I am changing to ones made by Cornerstone browbands - they look to be very good and she will make me ones with zipped necks - only SI rugs I have found that do this - I don't really have a problem with mane rubbing, but like to have the option to put a neck cover on if midges are really bad.
The Rambo Sweet-itch Hoody is the best I've tried - sadly there must have been a big demand on the sale offered by the link above as they're down to 5'3" only!
CyberCheckout's cheap ones are only available in size 5'3". All other sizes are £99.99. So, not such a great bargain unless of course you want a 5ft 3in one
I bought this rug on eBay for a great price - arrive yesterday by courier - Rambo Supreme Fly Buster
I'm still keeping my eyes open for a decently priced Rambo Sweetitch Hoody though, in 6ft 3in. I've got a 6ft one but it's too darned small for my rising two year old who needs it
Depends if you're looking for a sweet itch rug or just a fly rug. I bought the Rambo Bug Blaster last year and it's absolutely amazing. It's impregnated with permethrin that will last through 25 washes. I always imagine those bloody great horse flies happily landing on my jods and biting seven bells out of me through the jods, so why would a pretty white rug made of even less substantial fabric work at all to keep the flies off a horse? The Rambo Bug Blaster is a mesh, lightweight but thick enough to keep the little buggers off. Not cheap but worth every penny!
I've just bought the Amigo Mio's for mine, mainly as our summer fields are near ponds so apparently they'll need them. With Finn growing so quick, didn't want to spend a fortune as he'll outgrow it too quick. They look nice and lightweight for summer though.
Had a weatherbeeta last year, the coolcoat combo?
Much as I usually love Weatherbeeta rugs, most of my stable and turnout rugs are theirs and are fab, the fly rug of theirs wouldn't stay on my mare. 5 mins after putting it on it would be round her shoulders and half off...
Wouldn't mind the Rambo Hoody eventually - I like the design - but when he's fully grown!
