Vet's been today and removed his port, he still has blood in his urine which isn't good, and we have to catch urine samples to take to the surgery every week.
He is however bright and eating well, and going out for a short time in the sun.
His eyes have filled out and he has put weight on, but it's going to be a long road to health and he will have to live inside this winter.
I'll try and get some pics today without his rug on, the vet was pleased but we are a long way from the end of it I think, especially as all the tests for things like cryptospiridium/worms/salmonella etc came back negative.
The last test is for lawsonia ? and that is really obscure, but the test costs a bomb and takes two weeks to prove, but as all his symptoms fitted we felt it had to be covered just in case.
My vet is now off on holiday tomorrow, and boy does he need a rest!
The other annoying thing is Jacques is gettinga tiny splint which is sore, but we have to keep riding him even at walk or we won't get back on the bu**er!.
Vet has agreed just walking won't make it worse so that's the plan until it sets..
there are some weeks I could cheerfully be a "normal" person and have no horses at all, just think, loads of money, holidays, you don't smell of wee/poo etc and I could sit down and read a book like other retired people do.
Then again, perhaps I'd get bored pretty quickly
