I thought I'd introduce the saint of a dog I grew up with Lucy.

When my parents brought me home they put me on my mat on the floor, Lucy sniffed me from head to toe and laid down next to me and ran to get my mum when I grumbled.

She was 'my' dog when I was little. I learnt to stand by holding on to her :o and took her for walks 'by myself' ;) at 3yo. :D She was just such a gentle and loving dog. She was so quiet with me yet was partial to a good loon when the mood took her.

She was PTS when we discovered she had cancer of the womb aged 18.

She's lovely :)

This is the old man that makes gundogs tops for me - not Henry, but Barney :)

Oh Annette - I grew up with a Scottish Collie too - Bella :)

She was so beautiful, quiet and loving - I wish I had some photos of her.

She was beautiful! How lovely must she have been!

I spent the first three years of my life with a B&W Springer funnily enough, I definately didn't learn to walk by clinging on to her, more like trying to get away from her! Didn't put me off Springers, but we always went for L&W Spaniels after that, until Otto that is! :D

My babysitter, my tormentor (and me hers :D), my best mate growing up, there will never be another like her, everything a GSD should be, smart, agile, despite a broken leg in puppyhood, no HD :p wonderful with kids, converted so many critics of the breed, but wouldn't back down from anyone or anything, totally solid female, my ideal and if I ever breed in future I will try my damndest to find something even slightly close to her. Plus she was a sable :p although it doesn't look it from the pics!

And how sad is this, I have a head study of her in oils hanging in my room :o

CC - I got one of Lucy for my parents on their 20th wedding anniversary and it has pride of place in our living room....not sad at all.
