Fifty people so far, or there abouts.
This is great, but there must be lots more yet, so come on guys, we need more names if we are going to convince HHO, to do this.

Or am i being to pushy??

*signed* as far as I'm concerned! :)

And obviously, I would be more than happy to provide information if H&H require it, having had a near miss. Great idea - this really is an issue that needs tackling! Tragic or near-tragic incidents involving horses on the road are becoming far too common :(:(:(:(

signed! We want to be as safe as possible.

But agree that there should be two sides to the campaign. I have come accross some really obnoxious riders as well as drivers!

Just glad you are all alright.
And completly agree with you, we need to educate a lot of people.

Count me in, anything to help. Agree it does need to be a 2 way thing though, I have come across some completely ignorant/stupid/dont have a clue, riders whilst driving and some equally hopeless drivers whilst riding! It has reminded me that when I took my driving test over 20 years ago one of the questions I was asked at the end was "name a hazard you may come across whlst driving on country roads". Poor man, being a country girl I reeled off a humungous list, he couldnt shut me up, from tractors to horses, from stray sheep and cattle to wild animals et al. I passed! I think along with complete ignorance, one of the biggest problems now is that everyone is in a permanent rush and cant bear to wait a few moments until it is safe to pass, everything must be done NOW!! Please feel free to ask if I can be of any use in the MK area and good luck with getting this off the ground.

Brilliant idea. I have a sticker in the back of my car saying to slow down for horses. Not sure it has any effect though to be honest :(

Took the youngsters out on the road last week and 2 drivers taking their driving test passed us. I have a strong feeling that one or both may have failed due to incorrect passing. One pulled out at the last minute and then went wide while the other barely gave us any room then pulled in quickly and stopped

Have also passed riders giving them plenty of room and going past slowly and received no acknowledgement at all. I always give a smile and nod of the head if I can't take my hands off the reins

I have just spoken to my friend who is a driving instructer, and although she does teach her pupils how to drive past horses, she thinks only about 50% of driving instructers will include this in their lessons.
I think this needs redressing, L drivers need to be taught this, right from the begining!!!

Great idea - consider it signed. However, I think it needs an even bigger audience...

ie. bill board advertising, national and local newspapers, council advertising, IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists), supermarkets, petrol stations train stations. Sorry I'm going on a bit! and especially Tesco van drivers!!!
