Following on from the “pathetic toilet roll thread” ....

LeannePip, can't believe you missed the toilet roll thread. It was a doozie (pardon the pun). By the way hi to Barbara :D
Consider yourself lucky folks. We have to supply our own bog roll, tea, coffee, milk, sugar and our own cups, unless you want to use a dirty one. We also take turns cleaning the loo and tea room. I had no idea as when I arrived I was offered a coffee. Was handed a cup of hot water and then told I had to bring my own coffee! :(
All this for the princely sum of £585 PCM, not including the extra 4 bales of bedding at £9.50 per bale that my pees like a fountain neddy goes through each month.
 
£2 to use the water and kettle! No wonder I don't make any money at this,I clearly haven't thought my exploitation of services through properly.... I provide tea,coffee,loo roll,kitchen roll,antibacterial soap,swarfega,hot Choc,milk,a near constant supply of choc digestives and occasional baking(when I haven't eaten it all at home already...) ;)

antibacterial soap?? I usually give my hands a quick swill under the cold tap (if at all) before eating my sandwiches... Seriously though, it's touches like that that make yards a really good place to be!
 
The problem arises when x says "I don't drink tea" so they don't pay the £2, and y says "I'll bring my own" and z says "me too" then inevitably one of them drinks the tea provided leaving the YO out of pocket.

It's a separate charge for a reason, because beverages, loo roll etc are classed as 'for clients' when it goes through the books at the end of the year (thus the Yo can claim tax back on it). Unless the Yo is expected to shell out of her own pocket?

It's perfect financial sense, and also why some yo's charge for extra water for drinks etc...
 
I would have to carry a little backpack; thermos of tea/coffee/chocolate, camping stove, saucepans, powdered milk, sausages, bread and butter, etc. And Jaffa cakes:D

Could even keep loo roll in there...
 
sorry but at that price say if you have 10 - 15 liveries I dont think the YO can begrudge buying a big box of tea bags - if she wants a cheap tip they are £1 in Poundworld!

We have somewhere to enjoy a drink... The one that I take up in a flask... I can park my beat up folding chair outside the barn doors and soak up the sunshine... Or rain... :D No loo though but not too far to dash home...
 
I've now got my horses at home so no longer searching around for change to pay kettle use money and lots of my horsey friends pop round here for tea :0)
Oh and I always have loo roll ;0)

Wizzkid, from your comments I'm guessing we were at the same yard.
 
The other annoying extra on top of £560 part livery was for feed that was no longer on the menu for one horse but available and included in the price for my other horse. I didn't see why I should pay an extra £15 for my 2nd horse to have 1/2 scoop less of the same feed my other horse had for free!
