FOR A FRIEND OF A FRIEND>>>>>FREE TO GOOD HOME OR ITS GOING TO KENNELS ON THURSDAY

Please PM if he is still available and capable of a few days hunting this season. I know someone who specialises in ex racers who is looking for just this sort of horse at the moment. Thank you.

Lets hope that you are never in a situation where you have to! When you can't pay the mortgage/bills and come to the sad situation that you have to sell the horse... Then you try to sell the horse, cheap as chips, and because the market is so poor, you can't unless you sell it for nothing and it is likely to go to a dealer...possibly end up in the auctions...... So perhaps putting the horse down may be the least painful route in the long run. Do you know that the owner hasn't tried rescues etc?? Its very easy to condemn unless you're standing in their shoes. Lets hope that this works and a home is found.

Precisely.

Are you all talking about a lady called Jessica Young? I have my Tb with bone spavin (treated) advertised on project horses and she contacted me about offering to take her a few days ago? Please could someone pm me if this is so.

Yes whatever you do,DO NOT LET HER GET WIND OF THIS OR POOR HOSEY WILL END UP AT "POTTERS"
Have you pm'd ""lovely""" to give the name so she can tell her friend to be warned???????
Shes from Newport and she uses 2 names.J.E and J.Y
You know who I mean!!!

Well it's on the way to the kennels anyway by the sounds of it.

Will say no more on the subject, apart from FFS!

:eek::eek::eek:

and to the original post:
I don't know why people get so outraged at horses being put down. It's not nice but really using your sensible head - it HAS to happen!

What's better for a horse?
a) gets sold for peanuts to an unlikely dodgy person, sold for a profit to less likely person, left neglected/ beaten/unwanted in a field somewhere til it dies of starvation..(or then goes for meat anyway )

b) gets sent to be put down. Bish bash bosh - it's over and in a better place with a sure future..

orr the very hard to come by c option..
c) someone buys the horse and looks after it for all of its days in comfort

When you can't afford to eat/pay bills you don't have TIME to wait around for the C option do you? So it's really a or b and I know what I'd choose time after time!!

Sorry i haven’t read all of the posts so apologise if i have got this wrong, but i didn’t read that they were getting rid of this horse because that couldn’t afford to keep it, it was because they don’t have the TIME.
When did it become right and proper to put a healthy horse down because of a lack of time. Pay for somebody else to ride it and look after it until you find somebody to take it on...this is a living creature not a disposable material possession.
Alternatively get onto the TRC and see if they have space, or what about advertising on the ExRacehorse boards….

I know a few equine colleges that would take a horse like this at the drop of a hat. Plus most don't charge you for livery in return for use of the horse and at some feed, shoes etc are all free aswell.

I've just read this thread from beginning to end - only to find out (thanks BWa) that it's getting on for 2 years old! GAH! :mad:

can you please tell me if you know where this post came from ? I have been searching for a 17hh dark bay TB for months ...there is a big reward for him..did anyone in this post see the horse in question??

Oops I PM'd the person just now not realising the date as I saw the first post! Horrible feeling as 5 years ago I sold a 17hh TB gelding who had been bar fired, he would be 14 now so 13 when she posted and in Devon....!!!!
