For all you Gypsy haters...

Oh dear, bit of a slanging match, I think I may have contributed with my original post but I was upset to see SO MANY horses tethered without water or supervision. Would you stick your horse/pony on a long lead rope and leave it by the A66? I wouldn't, I worry if I haven't seen my boy for a few hours. That road is a motorway, what if the horse spooked, got tangled up and panicked etc I don't think that any of these posts are racist it wou'dn't matter to me who it was mistreating horses but a collection of people at the same event does in my opinion need addressing.

This is a serious problem near us horse in the middle of the dual carriage ways being fattened up for meat. They have no idea if there is weedkiller on there never mind ragwort, neither do they seem to care. They buy these ponies cheap mainly shetlands and fatten them up for free, its another how to make money scheme. Wish I could afford a brand new pickup truck without having a job.

I wonder what OP's view of the horse fatality at Badminton is?? Perhaps you ought to have a chat with the people in CR about the ethics of eventing ;)

HG - You do seem to be a social grenadier, you kick the door in then roll your hand grenade in, to delight in the explosion.

What do you do for kicks at the weekend go to a Millwall sports pub, to watch the football with a Chelsea scarf on.

You obviously revel in irritating other people, there is a distinct difference between promoting debate and ranting at people with rather ill informed opinion and little knowledge of what your talking about. You seem almost unable to empathise with other peoples viewpoints unless of course it runs parallel to your own.

Grow up and do something constructive with your time

Guessing that OP's reply would be something like they have never actually experienced this personally but they did once have a car that had to go for scrap metal once and that has given OP a few sleepless nights over the years.

Phew!!!! My computer crashed out last night when I was trying read all the posts on this subject. there is good and bad in all of us, wether racing or travellers and I've met both over my many years, same as greyhound racing, some owners love their dogs more than their kin, others toss the dogs to oneside when they have finished racing. Some are in it for pleasure, others for money or the latest must have and horses are now in that band.:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I haven't read the replies, simply 2 many.

I have seen first hand how gypsies treat their horses, I would rather have one of mine PTS than them end up in their hands.

I am sure there are gypsies who treat their horses well, it would be wrong to tar everyone with the same brush.

But having met several gypsy families at different times in my life and under different circumstances, I can honestly say I have only ever had bad experiences. From seeing primary 2 kids taught to shop lift, to even younger kids throwing bricks at cars passing by for fun, to a riot in a pub because the landlord dared to shut the bar and finally an incident in which a horse was beaten senseless.

The authorites are afraid to tackle them on animal welfare issues, because of stupid bloody political correctness and accusations of interfering with their way of life etc.

I do however agree with the hypocritical part, many horses do die in racing, but its a rich mans sport, so its wrong to say they aren't cruel and gypsies are worse because they are not upper class, I would say not rich, but having seen their cars and caravans I would be wrong lol
