For foal cam addicts...

I'm sure she is going to have a 'hay' baby, all she does is eat and eat :D
Have you seen her wee feline friend yet? Very cute :)

Comment by katrina davis (Chantilly'S owner) 3 hours ago - "tillys special bought her dam in foal with her lovely mare bg( better be going) but unfortunately she was put to sleep shortly after the birth due to hemoraging did some research after and found out that she had had a difficult first foaling and wouldnt stant to the stallion again so they a i d her and sold her on, tilly was bottle fed by me for the first four days of her life till i found a foster mare, a lovely old mare whos foal had been still born, it was magic instand bond between them, tilly is still my baby tho even now at 18 she dose the fence line inspection with me, her chin on my shoulder as we walk haha "

Have you seen how tiny this mare is, you can really onlytell when someone is in with her. she'd not the size of a big dog!

Just to clarify, because I am receiving emails questioning this post - the mare on Cam at Mulligans Run Farm (featured on BarnMice) is not the same mare that is quoted in this post.

Reading back I see someone asked about why her belly hair has been clipped. They have clipped her as she's very winter hair woolly, and if they baby is trying to suckle and misses, and takes in hair, it can cause colic. And as for her panting... Well if you had that much baby in there, I think you'd pant too *Grins* When she lies down it puts a lot of pressure on her so her breathing will be more laboured.

I watch this girl most hours of the day (I'm currently not in employment) and she needs to hurry up and foal! She does gets lovings throughout the day, and if the door is opened is more likely to be seen standing about, she's not much of a mover so isn't that interested in out really. It's also been cold and rainy there recently so she's happier in then out.

There has been an update and she is currently dripping milk, lost her mucous plug, is elongated in back and ready to blow, foaling strips say she can't be any more ready... All she needs to do is drop and let this baby out for us all to see! As they are in the US, any of you early risers here in frosty Europe may well catch her foal if she decides to do so at any time soon!

When she is close to foaling you will see her circling, pawing and she will do butt tucks (where she drops her behind down) this is a sign of contractions. She may also roll a little and you might even see her waters break if she co-operates! The farm owners are hands on in their births and operate under a policy of their barn their rules. If anything you see distresses you, or you disagree with, turn off the cam. After the foal is born they will dry off the baby some and will hang a towel up with the gender of the foal on. They will treat the umbilicus to help it dry up and have a check of baby and mom to see all is well. They will also watch for first poop and make sure the foal nurses on it's own.

I've been watching them for some years now, so if I can be helpful in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me via private message here!

Glad I didn't stay up all night as she still hasn't popped.

It is highly addictive though - normally in bed by 10 but didn't go until after midnight - left computer on so I could pop down if I felt like it.

Come on Tilly!

I thought she'd have foaled by now!

Getting some scritchies this morning, and giving grooming back lol. Love when they do that! Humans appear to make good scratching posts.

Lol! Maybe someone should give her a hot curry and take her for a trip in the trailer over bumpy ground :D I'm sure she is going to give birth to a bale of hay!:D
