Found a horse this morning

Well done to you and completely agree with the above. Hope the horse is Ok and doesnt go back to its owner. Being over cautious these days is due to fear of reprisal and thats why some of these bad owners get away with it and the animal is left to suffer in the meantime. I wouldnt bute etc until its seen either. Fingers crossed then.
 
It really pisses me off when people come on here and do a good deed only for a spiteful minority to doubt their word. :mad: Why are some people so sad? :confused:

Im not sure people are doubting her word as such, just pointing out the legalities that 1. its not her horse and yes its theft if she refuses to give it back to them. 2. She is self medicating the horse, not knowing its full condition and without the use of a vet.

where is the 'spite?' It is NOT a good deed buting up someones pony without vet advice AND permission from the owner. As for ACPing it...well :( The story is a wee bit strange for me to swallow whole so I'm going to sit back and watch what happens. I have a gut feeling on this one ;)

Tbh, I don't think calling people liars happens here often! Not that i've ever noticed. I've made lots of posts about different things and never felt my word was doubted.

I agree with both of these. It is a strange tale indeed. A crippled lame horse walks a mile voluntarily. OP phones round at 6am and identifies owner. Owner comes to walk him home, brings no headcollar, just a whip, which she proceeds to beat him with. :confused: Then a (still unnamed) welfare organisation comes out unusually promptly and confliscates the horse into OP's care.

Okay, weird things happen, but I don't blame people for being astonished! :eek:
 
Weirder things do happen. Assuming its true, the OP does need to be aware that she's in a tricky situation and breaking some rules (laws :o ). However I get the impression she is aware and is doing it anyway for the right reasons so hopefully things will turn out OK one way or another.

I believe it as I have (blush) lost my horses, when the gardener left the gate open after strimming and on two occassions I have had horses turn up at my yard - both times happily returned them to owners. I have also had a welfare case at the end of my road which I eventually managed to solve. So I see nothing to be sceptical about ..... unless you are trying to stir? Essentially things like this happen and if you choose not to believe then it gives you a great excuse not to put yourself out?

I don't actually understand that bit of your post. I'm sure many of us have been involved in welfare cases/rescuing (I know I have) but OP isn't asking for anyone to "put themselves out".

I'm certain if OP posted asking for advice or support from people in her area, they'd be lots of offers. No-one's doubting cruelty happens or choosing to ignore it.

A quick up date theirs more to this pony ownership than meets the eye I cant say anymore Until its sorted vets been pictures taken. He is not stolen though sorry cant give anymore as not allowed

So what did the vet say? Is it laminitis? I hope the owners paid the vet and will buy whatever medication has been prescribed. Keep us informed of his progress :)

Surely you're allowed to tell us which welfare body is involved? :confused:

I don't think anyone was suggesting he's a stolen horse, they were just warning you that you should be careful as you could be accused of stealing him!

I agree, we have had various horses wonder to us, as we are in quite a horsey area, both 1 horse at a time and anything up to 4 horses. We even found a whole flock of sheep in one of the wheat fields outside the yard one day! We had to heard them into a few stables and they were claimed a few hours later!!!

Well done OP for taking care of this pony, he is very lucky to have found you. :)
 
nobody is questioning the possibility of having a horse (or two) wander into ones life. It happened to me when I lived near Colchester. A beautiful grey steed (fully tacked) galloped out of the fog one morning. I caught him, dried him off, gave him some hay and waited for the rider. She eventually arrived after having walked for miles over tattie fields in the fog. I was quite sad at giving him back :(.

Also, Op put "Horse welfare", small case "w", therefore not the name of the charity anyway.

I understand the need for discretion if there's a case pending, but I don't see why OP hasn't returned to answer harmless questions such as which organisation's dealing with it. As for people saying horses go missing and turn up at other peoples' yards, yes of course, it's the other strange events which are rather incredible.

Her sudden silence on the subject is as odd as the rest of this story. :rolleyes:

Not really - she says a few posts back that she has to now be very careful what she says.
