After the upset of a few weeks ago when my new mare died at her old home on the morning when I was due to pick her up, I have carried on looking for a new hacking buddy, on loan, I hoped, and my hopes have just been dashed again and again, people changing their minds, arranging to meet me and then just not turning up, I was beginning to think that I had unwittingly upset someone!
On Sunday, after driving 60 miles to be met by someone who just never turned up, I was feeling very low. My daughter went on Facebook and, unknown to me, asked if anyone knew of a nice, safe little horse who needed a new home.
And lo and behold! The Face book Gods must have been smiling because a girl who my daughter knows slightly popped up and said "I know of an RDA pony who needs to be retired to a new home"!
And so Rufus is coming home next Friday! Although after everything that has happened, I won't believe it untill he's actually in the stable looking at me!
He is elderly and needs some special care but that's ok by me, I can't wait to get pampering him, and I will need lots of advice from all you lovely people out there as I have never had an older horse before and I want to get it right and keep him happy and comfy for as many years as possible.
Yipppeeee!!!!
